to honor Mrs. Dusenberry, who .re
ceived a large number of gifts.

Returning home the early part of
this week wero Mr. and Mrs. Clsrence
Meeker, who havo spent the past two
weens traveling In the east.
Mr. and Mrs. Meeker stopped In
Minneapolis and Chicago en rout.
Motoring horns, they were the guests
of relatives and friends In- Indiana,
Iowa, and Greeley, Colo. Fine weather
and a delhchtfui trip are reported by
Mr, and Mrs. Meeker.

Monday, November 30 Is the clos

according to an announcement today
by J. Verne Shangle, well known
Medford photographer. On that date
competition for $300 In cash and
merchandise awards will close and
out-of-town photographic experts
will come to Medford to choose the
winners. All photographs will be
placed on display and the public
Invited to inspect them, Mr.
Shangle announced. The place where
thlA exhibit will be held will be
made public near the close of the
contest.
"Some exceptionally fine photo
graphs of southern Oregon kiddles
may be exjweted when this public
exhibit Is held" Verne Shangle said
today. "I am gratified In the re
sponse to our baby salon contest and
the youngsters I hare already photo
graphed havo all been exceptional
subject. The baby salon Idea, which
will become an annual event in Med
ford under the sponsorship of this
studio, offers a splendid oupportun
Ity for southern Oregon people to
compete for valuable cash and mer
chandise awards and at the same
time secure photographs ae holiday
gifts. With 15 prominent Medford
concerns aa co-sponsora of the
Shangle baby salon this season, this
ovent becomea a community affair
with interest and enthusiasm In
creasing dally."
In tho Shangle baby salon, 20 cash
and merchandise prises will be of
fered. There are three classes in the
contest; class one for babies from
three months to one year, class two
for babies from one year to three
years of ago and class three for kid
dles from three years to five years

petition with entry blanka available
at Shangle studio In the Medford
building.
Tho list of qualified and disinter
ested Judaea' will be made public
soon, Mr. Shangle announced, and
an invitation will be extended to
everyone In southern Oregon and
northern California to attend the
public showing of the com po ting
photographs when they are placed
on exhibition. All photographs will
be enlarged and placed on uniform
mountings to assure a fair display
in this exhibit.

coming festivities at Southern Ore
gon Normal school In Ashland. The
event la expected to attract a record
number of former students.
Tills evening's program begins with
a noise parade and rally for the
football clash tomorrow with Mon
mouth normal, traditional enemy of
the Ashland school. A huge bonfire.
In which chemicals will be used to
create a spectacular effect, will fol
low the rally. The flro will bo set
building. The evening will end with
behind the school administration
a midnight snow.
Alumni will meet tomorrow morn
ing at 10:30 o'clock, and the game la
called for 2:30 p. m. The alumni
banquet la scheduled for tomorrow
evening at 0:30 o'clock In the Llthla
hotel. Dancing will follow In the

Recovers Trousers
BEAVERTON, Ore. Nov. 6.--(AP)
A. W. Orlpp of the Bert ha -Beaver-ton
highway recovered two-thirds of
a thief's loot but the other third
probably waa the most important.
Qripp'a trousers, a purse and 92
disappeared while ho was sleeping
on his porch. The trousers and purse,
but not the money, were found
nearby.

THE DALLES, Ore., Nov. 8. (AP)
State police and Wasco county of
ficers silted the ashea of a barn on
Tygh Ridge today In an effort to
uncover lurther evidence surround
ing tho death of Owen Jones, 65,
whoso body was found In the ruined
structure.
Preliminary evidence that Jones
was shot, hla head crushed and at
least one leg severed led officers to
call In Dr. Frank, Mcnne, pathologist
at the University of Oregon medical
school, as well as fire experts from
stata police headquarters.
The bullet and a portion of the
torso were talcen to Portland by Dr.
Menne last night.
The possibility that a pyromanlac
may have been involved wsa con
sidered when It waa remembered
that other barns in nearby vicini
ties had been destroyed by fires of
unknown origin recently.
