Pomona Grange
" Oertmde Haak.
A vory Interesting meeting of Po
mona Grange was held In Talent.
October 24. The comfortable, well
lighted and tastefully decorated hall,
together with the commodious dining
room where a wonderful dinner was
served by the hospitable Talent
Orange ladles, added much to the
pleasure of the all-day session.
A large group was in attendance
as was expected, as this was the day
for the biennial election of officers.
The following officers were elected:
Roscoe Roberts. Roxy Ann, master;
W. O. Howes. Gold Hill, ovenseer:
Olive Floyd, Phoenix, lecturer; J. p.
Brown, Griffin Creek, steward; Char
les Elmore, Applegate, assistant stew
ard; Nora Walt, Live Oak, chaplain;
W. E. Davles, Eagle point, treasurer;
Gertrude Haak, Eagle Point, secre
tary; Tom Stanley, Lake Creek, gate
keeper; Sylvia Croft, Gold Hill, Ceres;
Ellene Inlow, Bellview, Pomona; Reva
Henspeter. Jacksonville, Flora; Mrs.
W. W. Robison, Talent, lady assist
ant steward; and three members of
the executive committee were John
Hoist, Sams Valley; perry Wait, Live
Oak, and O. O. Maust, Central Point;
Through the solicitation of the
Jackson county Grange agricultural
and marketing committee and the
Klamath county Pomona executive
committee, Henry Conger of Jackson
ville Orange was appointed by Ray
Gill, state master, to a position on
the State Orange agricultural com
mittee to ropre.'ient .southern Oregon.
It was voted to urge the county
court to makft reasonable appropria
tion In the budget for the eradica
tion of serious weed pests In the
county.
The state officers' conference with
local Grangers will be held at the
Jacksonville hall, December 11. In
the evening will, be State Orange
seating drills. Further particulars
will be given later. It Is hoped many
Grangers will enter this contest.
Next regular meeting of the Po
mona will be held at Central Point.
December 12 at 8 p. m., when officers:
will bo Installed.
Finals In the county contest for
opening and closing ceremony, to
gether with officers' drill, will he held
at Jacksonville, November 28 at 8 p.
m-. unless It Is found that not more
than two Granges will bo entered
for the State Orange officers' seating
drill contest. In such case the finals
will be held at Jacksonville, Decem
ber 11, and be judged by state of
ficers. Later notice will be given on
this.
Mrs. Susie Maust, Mrs. Nora Walt
and Mrs. Oertriido Haak are arrang
ing for a suitable prize for county
contest winners.
State Orange is also offering some
very fine prizes for winners in seat
ing drill contest and in subordinate
Grange attendance.
Since the Stato Grange by-laws
state that all subordinate Granges
shall elect officers on the first regu
lar meeting of November, and install
in December, the county installing
officer urges that Granges make ar
rangements for installation as soon
as po&ilblo. December Is a very busy
month, both in home and Grange
dates. ..The Pomona has decided that
there will be no Joint installation of
all Granges in the tfounty this year,
due largely to the increased number
of Granges to be installed, so ar
rangements should be made for small
er group Installations as much as
possible. From three to four Granges
In a group will necessitate four or
five separate Installations and this
number can be arranged for. Some
Granges will want even a smaller
grouping.
Please make your plans and arrange
with Installing officer for your pref
erence date reservation and every ef
fort will be made to comply with
your desire. But please remember
that It takes time to arrange for
definite dates In so busy a month.
