were built. From this originated the belief that
witches and spirits are abroad at Hallowe'en
The Itomans had a festival on about the same
date In honor of Pomona. Apples played a big
part In this celebration. Our observance of Hal
lowe'en Is doubtless a heritage Tram the ancient
customs with the more popular ones retained In
modern observance of this popular holiday.
