Texas CCO men continued to pus
through Medford today nt the en
rollee movement to nil Medford dis
trict camps neared completion. At
10 o'clock this morning 148 members
of company 3879, destined for Camp
Coos Head with officers. WUl&rd D.
Barr, first lieutenant Cav.Res., and
Dickson O. Hipp, second lieutenant.
PA-Res., in charge, passed through n
iroute to Rose burg where they will oe
faken by trucks to Coos Head. Capt.
olenn J. Key with a convoy of trucks
left the Medford fairgrounds early
this morning to meet the company In
Roseburg.
Company 3878 was expected to ar
rive in La Pine today destined for
Camp Silver Lake. The list of the
eight companies from Texas, company
3873, destined for Camp Oregon Caves,
will pass through Medford tomorrow
for Grants Pass where they will be
met by a truck convoy.
Yesterday company 3870 passed
through Medford on Ita way to Grants
Pass where the men wer met by a
truck convoy which carried them to
Camp Rand. Rand has not been oc
cupied since company 1660 left tor
Naches, Wash. Officers In charge of
4 the new Rand company were Duane
Barron, first lieutenant. FA-Rs,
commanding, and Jack A. Reynolds,
first lieutenant. Eng. -Res. The men
were loaded at Floresvllle, Texas.
Also arriving In Oregon yesterday
was company 3860 from Bastrop, Tex.,
destlnod for Camp Tule Lake by truck
from Klamath Falls.
With the settling of the last com
pany in Its camp tomorrow, Medford
district will put aside the strain of
company movement for another six
months, continue' to devote major at
tention to the coaat fire which la still
making heavy demands cn the dis
trict strength.
The Texas men destined for Coos
Head will probably get their baptism
of fire among the charred acres of
western Oregon soon after they ar
rlrve In camp. Fire danger on the
coast will probably not be removed
until the heavy rains begin to fall.
LOUISA PENNY,
Louisa Penny, resident of southern
Oregon for the past 89 years, paaeed
away at home south ot Phoenix, Ore.,
on the Pacific highway, Wednesday
morning at 10:30 after a four months'
Illness at the age of SO.
Mrs. Penny was wi early pioneer,
crossing the plains with her parents
. , In 1864 from Missouri In horse-drawn
1 wagons. The only trouble encoun
v tered on the trip was when the
horses stampeded and were gone IS
days. Finally all were caught and
the Journey resumed. They reached
Walla Walla. Wash., some time In
September. 1864.
She was united In marriage to
Thomas Jackson at Walla Walla.
Wash., In 1865: he psased tway In
J80S. She later met and married
Stephen Penny at Klamath Falls In
1002; he passed away In 1937.
She leaves one slater. Mrs. Laura (
Dlaa, and one brother. George R. My
ers, both of Central Point.
Funeral services will be held at
the graveside In the Central Point
cemetery, Friday at 3 p. m- Rev. Os
car O. Gibson officiating. Perl Fun
eral home In charge of arrangementa.

- RITES SATURDAY
Marie Catherine Ramey, 58. passed
away at her home here early Tuesday
morning of heart trouble. She was
born at West Branch, la., February
31. 1B79. and had been a resident of
Medford for the past two and a half
years.
Marie Catherine Helfert was mar
ried to William F. Ramey August 31.
1935. Mrs. Ramey had resided In
Sioux Falls. S. D., for 37 years. She
was a member of the Flret Christian
church there for many years and a
member of Jasper Chapter No. 8.

F. Ramey, and one daughter, Mrs.
J. D. McKean. of Des Mines, la, and
one granddaughter, Onalee: also one
brother. Warren Bliss, Medford, and
two sisters, Mrs. Oeorge Ehrheart.
Medford. and Mrs. Ed Buckley. Olivia.
Minn.
Funeral servlcea will be held at the
Perl Funeral home Saturday at 3 p.
m.. Rev. W. R. Balrd officiating. In
terment In Siskiyou Memorial park.
Services at the grave will be In charge
of Reamea Chapter. Order of the
Eastern Star.
