of murder today against J. F. Gilbert,
77-year-old automobile camp resident,
In connection with the mystery shoot
ing of Roy Peebler, 45, camp man
ager. "OUbert won't say a word so far
and we don't know Just what the
cause of this shooting was.' Deputy
District-Attorney Tom Handley said.
Gilbert sat defiantly in the county
Jail as officers questioned him, and
refused to discuss the case despite
the accusation of an asserted eye
witness, D. W. Malloy, another camp
resident, that he saw the aged man
level a shotgun out of his cabin win
dow late yesterday and fire both bar
rels as Peebler walked past carrying
a pall of milk.
Officers found a double-barreled
shotgun and empty cartridges tn Gil
bert's cabin.
Handley said a motive for such a
shooting waa not clear but that ft
quarrel might have occurred over th
occupancy ot the cabin In which OU
bert lived.
