morning did slight damage to the
old frame one-story building occu
pied by the J. O. Frazler blacksmith

Monday night shipped a 13-csr train
of pears to Portland for export. Most
of the shipment consisted o( Cornice
pears destined for Prance.
Fourteen cars of apples were also
dispatched to Portland for export
ahlpmenta.
"Prices obtained for this (rult wero
very satlstactory." David Rosenberg
said today, "One of the Important
problems, however, waa to have the
date of the shipment early enough
to avoid the possibility o( the steve
uore strike."
The shipment w:(Lthe largest of the
season for export a Portland from
this valley.
Relative to the edibility of the
Comlco pear. Mr. Rosenberg said:
"Unquestionably, the French arc
showing their good taste again when
they favor the Cornice variety. I Just
wish that consumers in America
would develop tho art of eating as
have the French. If they should,
am sure that every Comlcj peer grown
on the west coast would find the
ready market that it so Justly and
richly deserves. And when you con
slder that the French reople have
