Southern Oregon Normal school,
scheduled at the First Mothodtst
church parlors on the corner of Main
and Laurel streets Monday, October
12. at 7:48 p. m. Miss Ady has been
at the Normal school since Its found
ing ten years ago and Is well known
In Medford.
Her topic will be "Modern Ameri
can Painting." She will discuss the
. backgrounds, Influences and Individ
ualities of all schools of the nine
teenth century and all modern
schools, and will show through a
reflectoscope Illustrations In color of
the works of 25 American painters.
The lecture is being given under
mo auspices or the southern Oregon
Art association and la free. Miss Ady
promises to present a type of art
that will appeal to everyone. Includ
ing a 'discussion of photography and

Reed Carter, secretary-manager of the
Grants Pass Irrigation district, In
making a final warning to anyone
having boats or other property along
Rogue river within reach of rising
water.
The water will be released slowly
in order that the Increase In flow
below the dam will not be great.
However, if boats and other property
are left within reach of the rising
water line and not securely moored
there Is danger of damage, Carter
said:
Workmen are replacing a catwalk
across the dam, and now have the
work about three-fourths completed.
This walk la to be used In crossing
the dam throughout the year and to
facilitate work on the gates. Such
a walk was originally on the dam.
but was washed away In the flood of
1927.

a divided of 25 cents a shart No
vember 1. December 1 the regular
quarterly dividend of 11.25 will be

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Oct. 9. (AP)
"Cheiro," widely known psychic.
died today In his secluded estate on
Hollywood boulevard. He was 70
years old. His real name was Count
Louis Hamon.
An enormous guest book In his re-
ceptlon room was testimony to the
thousands of renowned persons who
came to him for advice.
"Cheiro" also was known as prolific
writer, with a number of books on
mysticism, astrology and kindred be
liefs to his credit.
He Is survived by his widow
Countess Mona Hamon.

14 cups milk

1 cup fresh blueberries.
Sift flour once, measure, add bak
ing powder, salt and sugar, and sift
again. Combine eggs and milk; add
to flour gradually, beating only until
smooth. Add Huskies ana shorten
lng. Fold In berries. Bake on hot
greased griddle. Serve wltn blueberry
hard sauce. Makes about two dozen
griddle cakes.
Blueberry Hard Sauce.
1-3 cup butter
1 cup sifted confectioner's sugar
4 teaspoon grated lemon rind
Dash of salt
Dash of clove
cup fresh blueberries.
Cream butter, add sugar gradually,
and continue creaming until light
and fluffy. Add lemon rind, sale and
clove, and beat well. Fold In blue
berries. Chill before serving; Makes
about 1 Vi cups sauce.

1 cup sifted flour
teaspon soda

1 cup Huskies
3 e8g yolks, well beaten
ly cups buttermilk or sour milk

2 egg whites, atlffly beaten.

A new whole wheat cereal flake,

Ice-Box Cookies.
2 cups sifted flour
3 teaspoons double -acting baking
powder
14 teaspoon salt
H cup butter or other shortening
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs, well beaten
teaspoons vanilla
teaspoons lemon Juice
1 cups Huskies.
Sift flour once, measure, add bak
ing powder and salt, and sift together
three times. Cream bxitter thorough
ly, add sugar gradually, and cream
together until light and fluffy. Add
eggs. Add flour gradually; then add
vanilla and lemon Juice and Huskies.
Shape Into rolls inches In diam
eter, and roll In waxed paper. Chill
overnight or until firm,, enough to
slice. Cut Into thin slices. Bake In
hot oven (400 deg. F) 5 to fl min
utes. Makes four dozen cookies.
Lunch-Box Nut Bread.
2 cups sifted flour
4 teaspoons double-acting baking
powder

X egg. well beaten
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons melted butter or
other shortening
14 cups Huskies

only enough to dampen all flour. Add

night has been proposed by Ralph J.
Straehll of the Allied Truck Owners'
association.
The suggestions are these:
Two blinks of the headliRhts when

driver would flash his rear light
twice If the rear is clear, A single
flash would caution the motorist and
three flashes would tell him that the
way la definitely unsafe.
When a truck swings into view of
