1 o'clock for the largest celebration
ver held there. The completed pro
gram shows a varied list of diversions
and entertalnnment, with the open
ing feature to be a softball game to
morrow at 1 o'clock. The pear pick
era and the tomato pickers will bat
tle for the championship.
At 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon
the humorous fat men's race and the
balloon shot-put will be held, with
the Yreka high school band giving a
concert shortly after.
At 3:30 a picked team of donkey
busters from the Southern Oregon
Normal school at Ashland will tan
gle with an outfit of baseballera from
Yreka. The remainder of tomorrow
afternoon's program will consist of
Judging pear and tomato exhibits.
Coronation Friday.
At 7 o'clock tomorrow evening the
ladles' pear peeling contest elimina
tions will get under way, and pear
packing contest to decide the world's
championship will start. At 8 p. m.
the coronation of Queen Opal I. wlU
be held, the queen to be escorted
by the Ashland Kilty band. A special

numbers, as will Miss LaMurte Beck,
with more music later by the Kilties.
From 9 o'clock until midnight the
Wagner Gulch midway will be open.
In alt Its old-time splendor. Danc
ing will also be held from 0 o'clock
on. The exhibits, housed in the high
school building, will be open to the
public all day and all ovontng.
Saturday Medford Day.
On Saturday. Medford day at the
show, a longer and more diversified
program has been offered. Final
Judging of exhibits will begin at 10
a. m. and continue the remainder of
the morning. At I o'clock the vari
ous races for prices will begin, to In-

etude a pear race, three-logged race,
bicycle aprtnt, foot dashes for boys
and girls, baseball throwing contest
for girls and pear throwing for boys,
a pear devouring contest and a race
I to decide the fastest pie eater.
At 4 o'clock the Medford Craters
will mount jackasses for a baseball
game agsln&t the Grants Pass Cave
men, both squads In their stunt cos
tumes. A good portion of the crowd
is expected to attend this feature.
At 7 o'clock Saturday evening the
finals of the pear packing contest
will be held, and the winner crowned
champion of all Christendom. At
7:30 the gigantic pear pie, the largest
ever baked, will be cut and distrib
uted to the crowd.
At 8:15 there will be dances end
novelty numbers by the students of
the Eve Benson dancing academy.
Henri Warner acting aa master of
ceremonies. There will be vocal solos
by Mr. Reedy of the Phoenix schools,
to an accordlan accompaniment.
Dancing at City Hull.
Saturday evening Wagner Gulch
will again be in full swing, starting
at 8:15 and remaining open until
midnight. Dancing will be held In
the city hall from 9 o'clock until
3 a. m.

tomato exhibits have been arranged
by William Boyd of Talent, Ralpn
Koozer of Ashland and Maurice epatz
of Medford.
Word was received this afternoon
that the 25-plece Yreka band and it
caravan of from 50 to 100 cars will
be present from the California city.
In appreciation of the record attend
ance from southern Oregon at their
recent Gold Rush celebration. A po
lie escort from Ashland to Talent
has been offered by the Ashland city
police.

THE progressive citizens of Talent are deserving of praise
for their enterprise in staging this splendid exhibition of
farm and orchard produce. This community show is well worth
a visit to Talent, Friday and Saturday, and southern Oregon
people should encourage the residents of this growing community,
sponsoring this event, by their attendance.

Farmer Adam Roth. Ilka that mytho
logical Grecian lady. Circe, has too
many hogs on his farm. Roth told
Sheriff Tom Pask that the hogs 31

place and wouldn't leave, and that
he was getting pretty tired of feed
ing them while vainly hunting their
owner.
