To reduce the operating expense
and at the same time to give land
bank borrowers more efficient service,
the directors of the Medford, Jose
phine, Williams, Ashland, Central
Point, Gold Hill, Phoenix and Rogue
River local farm loan associations
have voted to conduct their business
through a central office located In
Medford, it was announced today.
The units serve Jackson and Jose
phine counties. Warren Patterson of
Central Point has beon appolntea
secretary-treasurer, at a monthly
salary.
Mr Patterson was formerly secretary-treasurer
of the Control Point
N. p. L. A., also scvlng as part time
field collector for' the Federal Land
Bank of Spokane. In addition to his
duties as secretary-treasurer of the
new association, he will service all
land bank and land bank commis
sioner loans In the two counties, It
Was learned.
Under the arrangement each asso
ciation will continue to bo a separate
organization, but will conduct Its
secretarial work and field activities
through the headquarters here, with
the bsnk defraying a substantial por
tion of this expense.

further step toward an offlolent, uni
fied co-operative credit service, the
farm loan associations are co-operating
closely with the local co-operative
credit associations which were organ
ised under the farm credit act of
1936. to perform a similar service In
the field of short time credit.

storing the pears and apples until

gagement at Portland's smart Supper

Officers who Investigated the fatal
shooting testified that In making
their Investigation they had no dif
ficulty In calling a message from the
spot where the body lay to the point
where the two empty sheila were
found, and that It waa easy to distin
guish the color of clothing across
the Intervening space. The distance
was variously estimated at from 300
to 800 yards.
Both local men testified that they
did not aee Meyer, and did not know
that he was even In the vicinity. He
was dressed In olive drab clothing
they told the Jury he was hidden by
brush. He had been standing In brush
40 feet nearer the hunters than the
deer which they said they had fired
at, they testified. They told the
hearers that one of their shots had
fallen short and killed Meyer, who
was directly In the line of fire.
They testified that they did not
be held from there Sunday afternoon,
with Chaplain Anderson of the CCC
officiating. Interment will be In Sis
kiyou Memorial park.

Mrs. Fred Meyer, of Fergus Rills.
Minn., will be here for the funersl.
