William Powell attains the distinc
tly of being a butler for the nutti
est family In the whole country, In
the romantic comedy, "My Man God
frey," opening a three-day run at the
Craterian theater today. Carole Lorn
' bard ts co-starred In this mirth
gripping story. Adapted from Erik
Hatch's sparkling novel of the same
name.
The story shows Powell as a "for
i gotten man," being brought to a very
ritzy party by Miss Lombard, so that
he may win first prlza In a scaven
ger hunt. Then she engages BUI as
the butler and tho fun takes on a
madder pace.
This balmy family, known as the
"Batty Bullocks," Includes: One
baffled husband who has been thor
oughly gaffed by a slightly daffy
wife. He Is laughed at by society'
riffraff for permitting her to pamper
a "protege of the rich" and for giv
ing hln; the run of the parlor. The
husband is further snaffled by the
wild expenditures and tall doings of
his two dizzy daughters. When bis
fortune is loot In the raffle of the
stock market, he Is saved by the but
ler, who has managed to outlast all
the eccentricities of tho goofy mother
and her daughters.
As the butler, Powell 1b the smooth
charming person that has made htm
one of the screen leading lights. His
calmness in the face of all the lu
' nacy he faces each day makes his
role stand out that much more. Miss
Lombard, as the dizzier of the two
daughters, 1b the well known "dizzy
blonde" to a fare-you-well, but in
cludes a tantalizing wlnsomeness
that makes one like her nevertheless.

will show Francia Lederer, the "Bound
ing Czech," In a gay, romantic story
of a kiss that created a furore in
sophisticated Paris. The title of this
merry adventure Is "One Rainy After
noon" and, besides Lederer in the
leading role, the cast includes Ida
Luplno, as the girl who gets kissed;
Hugh Herbert, Roland Young, Joseph
Cawthorn and Erik Rhodes.

Clyde Bestwlck waa In tho veterans'
facility hospital here today suffering
from severe brulsea, but expected to

last night, his companion, William
