Assemblies observing Constitution
Day, September 17, were held in city
schools today, with the senior and
Junior high schools leading the way.
The high school band, under di
rection ol F. Wilson Walt, opened the
program at the senior high audito
rium at 10 o'clock this morning, with
students Joining In the pledge of al
legiance and singing of 'America."
Songs were led by Miss Floy Young,
music Instructor.
Frank: P. Farrell, Medford attorney,
addressed the students on the con
stitution. He was Introduced by
Ardo Stocks, student body president.
who presided. The student body was
presented with a large picture of
Abraham Lincoln which was given
last June by the Grand Army of the
Republic which was In state convex
tlon here at that time.
Constitution Day oDservance was
combined with the first assembly of
the year at 1 P. m. at the Junior
high school, where Alvln Welmer, lu
Boy Scout uniform, opened the pro.
gram with a salute to the Hag. All
new students In the school were wei
corned and patriotic songs by thd
students were led by Miss Mary Lou
piper, new music director at the school.
A large flag, a by 10 feet, which was
presented to the school lest June at
the same time the picture was given
to the senior high, was formally
