Oregon depsrtment of the American
Legion, received citations today for
exceeding their 1935 membership. The
citations were made to the conven
tion by department Commander
George L. Koehn.
Other trophies awarded were the
William B. Farley cup for the most
outsandlng achievements of the year
presented to Klamath Falls post,
scoring 947!$ points out of a pos
sible 1000. Honorsble mention was

counties of eastern Oregon will pro
duce most of the state's wheat this
year, Judging .from studies of the di
vision of crop and livestock estimates
of the U. S. department of agricul
ture. A breakdown of the division's crop
forecasts announced earlier this week
showed that the mid-Columbia dis
trict, which has contended with the
northeastern belt of the state for
wheat-growing honors should be con
siderably under the harvest totals of
the eastern counties Umatilla, Baker,
Union and Wallowa.

Ralph E. Moody, special gambling
case prosecutor for the county, coun
termanded his own order to stop the
bank nights, after Circuit Judge L- H
McMahan had Issued a temporary re
straining order preventing the arrest
of the marble board operators.
Moody's previous order gave the
board operators and theater managers
five days In which to comply with Its
ruling, in granting the restraining or
der Judge-. McMahan set September
17 as the date for hearlrag a petition
to make the Injunction permanent,
The status of the bank nights . was
expected to be decided next week

The study of the agricultural phase
of Oregon's relief program showed
that a fifth of the families on what
the federal government classifies as
rural relief came to Oregon since 1930
but only 15 per cent of them were
experienced in agriculture. Sixty-four
per cent were trained to other trades
at 31 per cent had no trade training.
