To Fish Lake W. L. Jones, super
intendent 'of construction for the
Rogue River national forest service,
and Hugh B. Rankin, former fo-ist
supervisor,- left today for Fish lake
to determine how soon the road to
the popular resort may be opened to
the public. The road has been block
ed by snow but the forest service
hopes to have It cleared by next week
end.. Mr. Rankin recently acquired
the Fish Lake resort, and will operate
It this summer.

Fire Warning Fire Chief Roy El
liott Issued a warning today against
use of wooden poles for radio aerials
against chimneys. Aerials so placed,
he said, constitute a grave fire haz
ard, as they are liable to be ignited
from sparks emitted by the chimney.
He emphasized that the hazard grows
more serious as the weather becomes
hotter and drier. "Several fires have
been caused here from that source
and every resident should now check
his home to see that he has no
wooden pole against the chimney ,v
the chief said.

SANITY DOUBTED
EUGENE. April 17. (AP) A san
ity hearing was tentatively scheduled
for Charles Clement, 47, farmer of
the cbrtstener Oap area west of
here, today as officers considered his
action in allegedly threatening any
one who attempted to enter his land.
Clements was arrested here yester
day on charges of threatening to
commit a felony after ho is said to
have held up work on grading of
route P west of Eugene. He refused
to accept a price for right-of-way
offered by the county afmr road

to protect his property "with gun

fusal to sell.

local price of Imported bar sliver was
lifted today y cent an ounce to 46
cents.
This la the first change In the Mew
York quotation since January 20 when
the price was lowered to 44 cents
an ounce.
The price of domestic bar silver was
unchanged at 77 cents an ounce. Lon
don cables reported that bar silver

20 pence an ounce.
