sent Into military exile after his
criticism of WPA spending, left a
"ahowdown" conference with Presi
dent Roosevelt at the White House
today without disclosing whether he
would be restored to active duty or
retire to enter business or politics.
The White House was equally reti
cent concerning the president's de
cision aa to the general's future, but
indicated that an announcement
might be made at the war depart
ment early' next week.
While General Hagood remained
silent concerning hla plana, frlenda
said that unless he waa assigned to
command an army corps area, prefer
ably In New Vork City, he would in-
aist upon retiring to take advantage
of "other opportunities."

control and sides wiped an automo
bile driven by Samuel McCune, Jr.,
of McMlnnvllle, who escaped with a
few scratches. A girl riding with Mc
Cune was uninjured.
Math is was dead when picked up.
Holcomb died In a hospital later.

ters for use In curbing strikes and
disorders.
The testimony was given In the

Washington, 600 delegates to the
Workers Alliance convention con
vention conducted a noisy but order
ly march to the White House In

to ask President Roosevelt to back
their request for a six billion dollar

horticultural meetings this winter. The
