THE WRIGHT UHOTHEUS' AIRPLANE
HlSTOKIC INDEED was Dccemler 17. 1903. for on that day at Kitty Hawk, North
Carolina, the flying machine constructed by Williur and Orville Wright made a flight
of 856 feet the first time that a machine carrying a man had risen from the ground
under its own power and landed safely. Orville was at the controls of the (hip,
launched by dropping a weight which whipped it down 40-foot track and into the air.
