Five bottles five babies. Jean
Hersholt, as "The Country Doctor" in
the film of that name, opening today
at the Craterian theater, has the d
llghtful task of giving the famous
Dionne Quintuplets their regular
daty feeding during the course of the
picture.
Their first full-length feature ap
pearance has the Qumta playing
themselves in a atory revolving about
the dramatic episodes in the life of a
rural medic.
The picture, which has been a sen
sation everywhere It has been shown,
will be at the Craterian for three
days only, and patrons are urged to
attend the early shows matinees If
possible to avoid the anticipated
crowds.

Since plans for a Grange hall have
constituted the major line of en
deavor In the Upper Applegat Grange
since It organization eight months
ago, the new Grangers feel particu
larly pleased with the financial re
sults of the program and dance given
at the community hall here Satur
day, which netted 80 for the build
ing fund. Steps have been taken to
secure land for a building location,
although decision on the issue as yet
Is Indefinite. Meetings are held at
the Beaver Creek schoolhouse at the
present.
Many comments have been made In
praise of the short comedy. "Goose
Money,' presented before a large audi
ence Saturday under the direction of
Mrs. Wallace Hasklns, lecturer. 8tage
setting and make-up were supervised
by Mrs. Ed Walker. Additional num
ber on the program Included a duet.
'The Honest Quaker," by Mra. Amos
McKee and Floyd McKee: reading,
St. Peter at the Gate." by Mrs. Tru
man Lewis; Up dancing by Misa Shir
ley Lewis: and rocsl numbers by Mrs.
Jack O'Brien and Miss Gladys Byrne.
A quilt sold during the evening went
to Paul Jennings of Medford. Wendt's

The Grange members wish to ex
tend their thanks to all those who
aided In the success of their pro
gram. Total membership In the new
Grange reaches 64, and the number is
steadily growing, a apeclal meeting
having been held Wednesday for the
purpose of voting on new applicants,
who will take degree work at the
Applegate Grange Friday evening.

shown the strength of the concrete
to be around 4.000 pounds to the
square Inch, far In excesa of what Is
considered safe snd sdequate. only
9.300 pounds to the square Inch are
required by the American society of
Testing Materials Specifications, it
was ssld by Fred W. Scheffel, city
engineer.
The contract Is being ferried out
on aehedule by R. I. Stuart & Sons.
