Th teeond of rif of monthly
departmental assemblies was held the
middle of the week at the Lincoln
chool. Members of the fifth grade
Audubon Bird club furnished the pro
gram. This organization was formed
earlier In the year under direction of
Mrs, Frieda SehntMdcr, nature study
Instructor.
Talks were prepared In the English
oral composition classes on certain In
teresting but little known birds, chil
dren prepared their talks after care
ful Individual research.
Bird houses made by the same group
of children were displayed and a talk
on the purpose of the Audubon club
made by Miss Schneider.
Miss Cox. principal, spoke briefly on
klnduess to birds and animals. The
next assembly will be held under the
direction of the "Hobby club," a sixth
grade group.
Bridge Luncheon to be given Easter
Monday. 18th, at the Pariah hail,
sponsored by the ladles of Bt. Ann's
Altar avoiety. Contract, auction and
floo will be In play after the luncheon.

Lamont. DuPont was listed as giv
ing $1000 to the Crusaders- and
$25,000 to the league and ten other
organ 1 7At ions. Irenee DuPont gave
$10,000 to the Crusaders, and nearly

Henry Walter, former Jackson and
Josephine county resident, who has
traveled more than two million miles
In 18 yeara of service as a dining car
conductor, Is now completing his
travels by making a trip around the
world. It Is learned In a letter re
ceived from him today. He la
brother of Harman Walter and Mrs.
Fred Offenbacher of Applegate.
Mr. Walter la now en route to the
Orient on the N. Y. K. liner Tatsuta
Maru. He plans to continue from the
Orient to Europe where he will spend
some time In touring France, Italy,
Germany, Holland, Denmark and
England. He has arranged for cross
ing the Atlantic to New York on the
Queen Mnry. palatial British liner
now being completed. He will travel
from New York to Detroit. There he
plans to purchase an automoboile In
which he will complete hia Journey
back to the Rogue valley, where he
Intends to settle.
