False Alarm The chemical crew of

Driver Fined Max Howard Rae, 128
Mistletoe street, was this morning
fined $25 in city court on a charge
of reckless driving. He was arrested
shortly before midnight last night by
city police, who said he was driving
zig-zag" on North Riverside avenue.

Ashland resigned yesterday as care
taker of the CCC camp at Annie
Spring. He had for years been In
the employ of Crater Lake national
park service under whose Jurisdiction
he worked as caretaker. He found the
hich altitude detrimental to his
health.

Jackson County Chamber of Com
merce. It was presented to him by
Karl L. janouch, supervisor of the
Rogue River national forest, on be
half of the CCC men of Camp South
Fork, who made It for him. It is a
rustic sign of raised letters, made
from manzanlta. "I'm prouder of
that than anything I have ever re
celved," said Mr. Banwell.

Fine Cast in Craterian's Drama

Oberon, Joel McCrea and 12-year-old
Bonlta Granville In a dramatic and
powerful story of the evil that can

The story shows Miriam Hopkins
and Merle Oberon, heads of a small
girls school established with the
help of a young doctor, Joel McCrea,
whom they both love.
The whole school Is harried by the
presence of Bonlta Granville, a vi
cious child, given to glib lying and
bullying of the other children. To

Jarkson county , chapter of the
American Red Cross today slightly
exceeded Its quota of 673 for eastern
flood relief. It was announced by
George T. Prey, local chairman.
The response to the Red Crosa plea
was wholly spontaneous and volun
tary, there having been no semblance
of a formal campaign. Mr. Prey ex
pressed his appreciation of the pub
lics generosity and declared uini
depository office would continue to
receive voluntary contributions so
that the county's fund may be made
