It's peculiar, but those two are the

we've really become acquainted with,

ARE SURVIVORS IN
OLYMPIC TRY-OUT
SEATTLE. March 36. (AP) With
Stanford's mighty Indians knocked
from the running, Oregon State and
the University of Washington will
fight It out here tonight for the
right to play In the national Olym
plo games trials next week tn New
York.
The Oregon State Beavers, In an
astonishing upset last night, ran up
a score of 33 to 23 over Stanford
which only two weeks ago won the
Pacific coast conference crown by
taking two straight games from the
Washington Huskies.
Washington won the right to meet
the winner of the Stanford-Oregon
State game by a 41 to 27 victory
over Southern California earlier In
the evening.
Oregon State dug deep Into Its
strstegy bag and had the Indians
baffled most of the route. A snail
like, take-your-tlme, stalling per
formance threw the coast champions
off their stride at the outset. Even
the senatlonal Hank Lulsettl, Stan
ford's "polnt-a-mtnute-man." could
not get going. He hsd but 13 field
shots In the game and sunk only
two of these. A pair of gift tosses
gave him a 6-polnt total.
Coming out for the second period
cn the long end of an 8 to 7 count,
the Beavers shifted to a fast-breaking
game with ill-success. When the
Indians pulled In front, 16 to 16,
Oregon State promptly slid Into low
gear, recovered the lead and clung
to It.
The final 10 minutes aaw the
staters add ateadlly to their margin.
Wally Palmberg, who set a new scor
ing record for a northern division
season this year, was high-point
man with 13.
