Creek. Jackson County. Oregon, haa
filed with the Hydroelectric Commis
sion of Oregon an application for li
cense for a minor hydroelectric pro
ject on Rogue River near Union Creek.
The application Is for 17 cubic feet
per second of water from Rogue River
to develop D0 3 theoretical horsepower
under a head of &0 feet. The watei
would be diverted from the stream at
a point which bears North 6 degrees
West 1280 feet from the southeast
cornor of Section 34, Township HO
South, Range 3 East, W. M., and
would be carried In a flume and pipe
line approximately 1300 feet to the
power plant where the water would
be returned to Rogue River, all of the
proposed works being located within
the 8E'4 SEV4 of said section 84.
Said application Is made subject to
the terms of Chapter 87, Oregon Laws
1831 as amended by Chapter 367,
Oregon Laws 1938, and Is subject to
prottsts or remonitrances on behalf
of the public or any district organised
for a public purpose or by any Inter
ested person or persons on. the
grounds set forth In said law.

Leod Home Extension Units was held j
at Rogue Elk, March 10. Reports of j
the delegates to the State Home In
terest conference at Corvallla were I
given and thoroughly enjoyed. The
meeting was opened by Maud Dlts
worth, chairman of the McLeod unit,
Mesdames Hutchinson, Hughes,
Vaughn and Rsgsdale each gave In
teresting reports, covering many sub
jects pertaining to successful home
making.
Many new recipes. Improved child
management methods, better music, ,
happier homes and more friendliness
In community life are some of the
phases affecting homes as a result of
this meeting. Mrs. Mabel Mack and
mother, Mrs. Sweeney and Mrs. Rita
Meyers of Medford were present be
sides fourteen Indies from the two
units. Mrs. Mack also gave short re
ports as well as outlined plsns for
a four day summer camp next July.
Refreshments were served by Mes
dames aisss, Mulllns and Harding.
Mrs. N. F. Ohrt was hostess to the
Upper Rogue H. E. club, March 17.
The afternoon was pleasantly spent

The recreation hour was taken up
