Honey Brazil Pan Rolls
Too bad there wasn 't a modern bakery

George probably would have said

Now here is where George might fool
at home you know he never tasted any
but home style bread. We sometimes won
der if the good bread of pioneer days ac
counted for the ruggednoss of the early
pioneer.
Anyway if George were here we
have a pretty good idea where he would
buy his bread.

IF GEORGE WASHINGTON
Could See
WHILE our first impulse is to try to pay fitting trfl
ute to the Father of our country, we cannot but
wonder what he would say could he see a modern
store and visit an average American home.
In George's time the home and the factory were one.
Hardly anything was sold ready for use. While the wom
an spun and made the clothes for the family, the men toil
ed in the field and forest for food. All food processing was
done at home. It was hard work so hard that home life as
we know it was impossible.
Today George would find the modern store able to
supply every home need. In the home where stood the
loom we now find the piano what was once the home
work-shop is now the living room with its books music
the meeting place of the family, the heart of American
Home life.

Super Meat Markets
If .Washington could see an
ultra sanitary market
Quite a difference in meats now and
then because of lack of refrigeration,
cured meats were the main stay of the
diet Fresh meats except poultry and
game were a rare treat indeed.
If their fresh meat was considered so
much of a treat what would they think
of a tender juicy steak or roast from our
fancy steers. Holding meat until at its
best wasn't possible without modern re
frigeration so they had to eat it fresh.
Modern foods so commonplace to us
represents one of the greatest achieve
ments of science.
