Christian names.
"I'm so tired of everything," aald

Bobby considered. "No, I don't
think I am."
"My dear, how wonderful!" aald
Frankie.
"1 don't mean I'm hearty." said
Bobby, anxious not to create a pain
ful Impression. "I Just can't stand
people who are hearty."
Frankie shuddered at the mere
Bobby had played

Durmured. "They're dreadful."
They looked at each other sym
pathetically. "By the way," said Frankie aud
lenly, "what's all this about a man
tailing over the cliffs?"
"Dr. Thomas and I found him,"
mid Bobby. "How did you know
ibcut It, Frankie?"
"Saw !t In the paper. Look."

Bobby'a thoughts flew back to the
strangely haunting face of the photo
graph. "I believe I shall have to give
evidence at the Inquest." he said.
"How thrilling! 1 shall come and
hear you."
"I don't suppose thcro will be any
thing thrilling about It," said Bobby.
"We Just found him, you know."
"Was he dead?"
"No not thon. He died about a
Quarter of an hour Inter. 1 was alone
with him." Ho paused,
"Hnthor grim," said Frankie with
that Immediate understanding that
Bobby's father had lacked.
"Of course ho didn't feel any

"But all the same well you see.

Frankie wrinkled her brows.
"He's got an awfully silly kind of

continued Bobby helpfully,
STILL Frankie wrinkled her brows.
"Fell off bla pony when wi

"Stuck In the mud head-down, and
we had to pull him out by the legs."
"Oh!" said Frankie In a flood of
recollection. "1 know now. He stam

proudly.
"Didn't he run a chicken farm and
It went bust?" Inquired Frankie.
"That'a right"
"And then he went Into a stock
broker's office and they fired him
after a month?"
"That's It."
"And then they sent hlra to Aus

"Yes."
"Bobby," said Frankie, "you're not
putting any money Into this busi

"1 haven't got any money to put,"
said Bobby.
That'a Just as well," said
Frankie.
Naturally," went on Bobby,
at the castle.
"Badger has tried to get hold ol
someone with a little capital to
Invest. But It Isn't so easy as you'd
think."
"When you look round you," said
Frankie, "you wouldn't believe peo
ple had any sense at all, but they
havo."
The point of those remarks seemed
at last to strike Bobby.
"Look here, Frankie," he said.
"Badger's one of the best one of
the very best."
"They always are," aald Frankie.
"Who arc?"
"The ones who go to Australia and
come back again. How did he get
hold of the money to start this busi
ness?" "An aunt or something died and
left him a garage for six cars, with
three moms over, and bis people
stumped up a hundred pounds to buy
second-hand oars with. You'd be sur
prised what bargains there are to bs
had In second-hand cars."
"I bought one once." said Frankie
"It's a painful subject. Don't let's
talk of It. What did you want to
leave the Navy for? They didn't ai
you, did they? Not at your age"
llnbby flushed. "Eyes," he said
urn Illy.
It was Just after five o'clock when
Ihey reached Slloham, which was
the station for Marchbolt,
"Tho car's meeting me," said
Frankie. "I'll give you a lift,"
"Thanks. That will save me carry
ing this benstly thing for two n.llcs."
Ho kicked his suitcase disparag
ingly. "Three miles, not two," said
Frnnkle.
"Two miles If you go by the foot,
path over the links."
"Tho ono whero "
"Yes whore that fellow went
over."
"1 suppose nobody pushed him
over, did they?" asked Frankie as
she banded tier dresslng-cnse to her
maid.
"Pushed him over? Oood Lord, no
Why?"
"Well. It would make It much mors

the chance opening of a book of his
poema by a child. When the poet
died, church authorltlea differed as
to his light to be burled with Mo

They decided to nettle the matter
by lots. A book of Haflz'a poems waa
given to a vhlld who was told to open
It. The place to which the volume
was opened, thfcy believed, would give
some clue. When the book waa open

looked with amazement upon these
words by the poet:
"Withhold not thy foot from Hafia;
For though he be drowned In Bin,
He farcth forth to Heaven."
The poet was Immediately given a
church burial, And later made a saint.

visit It there. Hnfle lived In the lat

claimed to see a mystic meaning.
