Medford's supplemental application
for $130,000 of WPA funds to com
plete modernization of the municipal
airport has been held up because
plans and specifications have not
contained sufficient engineering data.
This message was given this after
noon to aviation committee members
of ths Jackson county chamber of
commerce and the city council after
a Hotel Medford luncheon by Cspt,
Edward Whitehead of the bureau of
air commerce, U. S. department of
commerce.
Plans are to be revised in accord
ance with an Isometric system to Be
sent from Portland tomorrow to Fred
W. Bcheffel, city superintendent,
Capt. Whitehead said.
It was emphasized that the defici
encies of the plana and specification
were not attributable to Medford.
Standards have changed frequently
and different methode of procedure
have been followed by various per
sons In authority so that the wool
picture ha been at times confused.
It waa pointed out.
It waa declared, however, that pro
cedure has now been standardized
and both Capt. Whitehead and Dr.
Raymond H. Staub, member of the
state aeronautics board who came
from Portland with the captain, gave
sasursnces that the Medford project,
when properly revised, would be ap
proved so that the city would have
one of the most modern terminal air
port In the country.
Cspt. Whitehead and Dr. Staub
pralsMt Mr. Scheffel for his untiring
work in preparing plana and specifl

who presided, commented that h did
