In their game last night against the
Med ford Junior High Bulldogs and
grabbed a oloee, nlp-and-tuck en
counter, 23-18. The shorter and small
er Juniors had trouble all through
the fast game In taking the sphere
off the backboard, but displayed a
fighting spirit that almost carried
them to victory.
Coach Russell Acblson of the Med
ford school satd today: "I was pleas
ed with their fight and their speed,
but the ball handling was ragged
very ragged. We're going to work all
w-ytk on short passes and block plays
for our Baturdsy game."
The Bulldogs meet the Koseburg
Juniors here Saturday night in en in
teraecttonat encounter which has
aroused much Interest at the Med
ford school.
Ray Henderson's Toy Bulldogs con
tinued their string of Impressive vic
tories by thumping roundly the
Phoenix high second team. 86-10.
The game was a walkaway for the
smaller but more experienced locals.

as United States commissioner of
reclamation to succeed Dr. Elwood
Mead has been extended by Idaho

for a motive, the Inquest turned up
a new mystery. Warden Joseph E.
Ragen testified the razor which kill
ed Loeb was not stolen from a cell
house barbershop as was first be
lieved. Day's shocklnjr story of the fatal
battle, shortly after neon yesterday
story which brought a state and
county Inquiry . into prison condi
tions was repeated by Edward Pow
ers, chief Investigator for the Will
county state's attorney.
"Day told me he met Loeb In
the showerroom," Powers related.
'He said they were stripped.
'Loeb then asked him to submit
to an indecent act. Day refused.
Day aald Loeb then came up with
a razor. Day kicked Loeb In the
groin. They fought for several min
utes. Day claims the razor changed
hands several times In the scuffle
at least three times." '
Day's story that Loeb was the
assailant was doubted by some ot
the lnvestlgatcrs, and he was for
mally charged today with murder.

Talent and Medford Irrigation dis
trict. Recent heavy rains are cred
ited with filling the reservoir.
Pish lake and Four Mile lake and
the Blatt Prairie Irrigation reservoirs
depend on melting snow and are now
at normal level. The spring run-off
Is expected to replenlsh them. Thirty
five InohesjOt snow, some of It frozen,
Ilea on the ground at Fish lake. The
reservoirs are the main source of
supply for the Medford and Rogue
