Lake Creek Grange
Lake Creek Grange was pleased to
have as Its guest, Mr. Elmbaugh.
County club leader, at the last meet
ing. Jan. 34.
Children Interested In 4-H club
work were called together before the
grange meeting and were addressed
by Mr. Elmbaugh relative to forming
a calf club.
A number of prospective members
registered with him preparatory to
taking up the work, and chose Floyd
Charley their leader.
After a brief business meeting, the
following program, presented by Lec
turer Mabel Brown, was enjoyed.
Old time music by Frank Simpson,
violin, and Russ Moore, accordion;
story by Helen Sldley; song, by chil
dren of Butte Creek school; readings.
by Tom Stanley, and Nora Bradahaw;
song, by children of Butte Creek
school; resdlngs. by Beth Zundell and

games, led by Emma Messal.
Next meeting, to be held Feb. 14,
will be In commemoration of Lin
coln's and Washington's birthdays
and St. Valentine's day.
The grange la glad to report that
Mrs. Tonn Is recovering satisfactorily
from a reoent bad fall.
Gold Hill Grange
A special meeting of Gold Hill
Grange was held Jan. 93. Ten new
members were given the third and
fourth degrees by the Sams Valley
degree - team. Visitors from several
granges In the county were present.
Games were played and refreshment
served to about eighty people.
The week previous to the meeting
was spent in renovating the QranK
hall. The woodwork waft painted, walla
calsomlned and new curtains put up
to the windows. This makes a very
great Improvement In the hall and a
very attractive meeting place.
The play, "Mama's Baby Boy,' put
on by the Sams Valley Grange was
very successful and enjoyed by a good
crowd. Those taking- part were Wes
ley McDonough, Helen Burreson, Mrs.
Empey, Jerome Fitzgerald, Mrs. Dug-
gan, Mildred Duggan, Betty. Wilson,
Gerald Fitzgerald, Dorothy' Straus
and Mrs. MoDonough. There were spe
clal musical numbers between the
acts and a special darky number by
Mrs. Korner.
Talent Orange
Talent Orange contest play, "Just
Debts," will be presented at Talent
Town hall Saturday, Feb. 1 by the
following cast: Mrs. Lane, Wanda
Works: Mrs. Bailey, lots Miller; Har
old Jennings, Ben Webster, Joe Man
ning, Oeo. Hartley; Ben Farruys. Tom
Bell. Harriet Bates Is director and
Ed Lemmln, prompter.
Musical numbers by the Orange or
chestra also the Town orchestra will
precede and follow the play.

the evening to an enjoyable conclus

unit will meet at the home of Mrs.
E. W. Empey January 30 for the pur
pose of studying shoe comfort, value

Mr. and Mrs. Dick Straus left Sat
urday for an extended visit with rela
tives In southern California.
Sympathy Is extended Mrs. Ada
East by her many friends In this dis
trict In the loss of her father. J. F.
Dltsworth, who passed away In Med
ford Saturday morning.
The Ladles' club was entertained
January 18 at the home of Mrs. Paul
Schula by Mrs, Schula and Mrs. Glenn
S purl In. An enjoyable program was
given. Names were drawn for the
coming club year, with the ladles de
ciding to call themselves Sam'a
Squaws to their pals for the year. Re
freshments were served by the hos
tess. Thirteen members of Sams Valley
Grange attended the meeting of the
Jackson County Pomona Grange at
Medford Saturday.
At the last meeting of the Sams
Valley Extension unit Mrs. O. T. Wil
son was elected as delegate to the
Home Interests conference at Corval
Us February 11 to 14. The comple
tion of the guide pattern project was
transacted at this meeting with Grace
Smith conducting the business.
The Ladles' club will meet February
4 at the home of Mrs. Nora Williams.
Miss Grace Blgham Is recovering
from a major operation at the Sacred
Heart hospital tn Medford.
Mrs. Joe Duenberry is now at home
after sufficient recovery from a ma
jor operation.

Mrs. Earl Jones died suddenly Sat
urday morning of heart failure. She
was the eldest daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. F. A. Wbaley ot Darby. She
leaves to mourn her her parents, hus
band, two son, Ardy and Perry, and
two daughters, Irene; three brothers.
Tod, Wayne and Bert, and four sis
ters, Essie, Rose. Alice and Marcla.
Lee Edmondson returned Saturday
from a three months' visit to his old
horns at Clear Lake, Cal.; hi uncle
at Lower Lake, and other relatives In
Fresno and San Francisco.
There was an all-day masting of
the Hustlers' club last Thursday. All
brought thslr favorite dish. They
hsd kisses, heavenly twins pie, pine
apple upside down cake, ooffee, ate.
All had a good time.
Mr. and Mrs. Ous Edmondson spent
Saturday In Medford. .
Mr. and Mrs. John Lltchenburger
of Grants Pass visited Mr. and Mrs.
Loren Moon Sunday.
Roy Casey brought Mrs. Roy Casey

twins are 90 days old.

Mrs. Amundsen will be remembered
as Dorothy Lamb. She will visit with
relatives and friends for some time.
