SENT TO PRISON

Pleading guilty to the charge of pass
ing fraudulent checks, Jeaee X. Brown
was sentenced In the circuit court
here late yesterday to four yean In
the penitentiary.
In 1928, Brown was arrested here
on a charge of arson and grand lar
ceny, confessing. Sheriff P. A. Webb
states, to burning two buildings at

from his attempt to rob the bank
there. Brown was frustrated when
the woman cashier, left alone In the
bank, refused him admission, the
doors having been locked. Following
his arrest. Brown tunnelled out of
the county Jail and eacnped with fire
other prisoners, but was later cap
tured at Lakevlew and returned here,
He was committed after a mental ex
amination to the state asylum, where
he remained three years.
