experts to provide alze and style fea
ture which up to this time have not

two drop-forged torque rods. The In

words, practically the entire duty of

they can be designed primarily and
without compromise for suspension.

USE SAYS DEALER
Chevrolet's on millionth cur ot
1039 production Is to be presented to
the owner of the oldest Chevrolet li
censed snd In regulsr use in the
United States. C. M. Hurd, of Rogue
River Chevrolet, Inc., reports that he
snd other dealers In this locality have
been1 asked to discover whether the
oldest Chevrolet Is In this territory.
The one millionth Chevrolet built
within the current year came off the
assembly line at Flint, Mich., on De
cember 12, Just elRht days after Chev
rolet produced Its eleven millionth
car since the beginning of the com
pany. Presentation of the millionth car of
the year a 1B36 standard coach will
be made to the owner whose Chevro
let Is discovered, between December
16. 1935, and midnight, January 18,
1938, to be the oldest model licensed
and In regular service.
Jt Is specified that, to win. the old
timer Chevrolet must have been recu-
larly licensed for operation during
the current year, possessing Its own
193ft license tags Issued before De
cember 1. It must, also, have been
licensed as a passenger car, and be
equipped with a complete passenger
car body. It must bear the original
engine and chassis numbers, legible
and unaltered.
To enter a Chevrolet for considera
tion, the owner need only drive It to
any Chevrolet dealer's salesrooms and
submit It for examination, receiving
a blank on which he will report the
engine and chassis numbers of the
car to the Chevrolet Motor company
at Detroit, where the company's rec
ords will determine which Is the very
oldest In service.
W. B, Holler, vice-president and
general sales manager. In notifying
denlcrs of the search for the oldest
car, said that the presentation Is In
tended as a New Year's gift as a re
ward for the driver whose good care
and maintenance has enabled the
very oldest Chevrolet to survive after
many years of operation.
"Chevrolet Is happy to present tills
1938 model." said Mr. Holler, "because
It feels that some recognition Is dtie
the owners of Chevrolets. Our
achievement of a production totaling
well over a million cars during the
current year Is to be credited largely
to motorists who began purchasing
Chevrolets many years ago and have
placed many repeat orders since then.

With the entire city suddenly tak
ing on a particularly festive atmos
phere enhanced by colorful decora
tions In numerous Medford homes,
biifilness houses and one of the most
artistic show places is the Hotel Med
ford lobby.
This year's Christmas tree in the
hotel even surpasses those of former
holiday seasons. Ed Herrlott, a long
time employe of the Medford, spent
considerable time In selecting a tree
that would be Just right, according to
P. G. Denson. manager, Harry Watson,
a member of the hotel staff, Is re
sponsible for the attractive decorative
scheme. Harry's artistic efforts have
won the commendation of Med ford
people who visit the Hotel Medford fls
well as out-of-town guest who avail
themselves of the hospitality of this
long-established hostelry. The attrac
tive tree occupies a conspicuous place
near the front windows of the Med
ford lobby so that all might enjoy It.
CRATER RANGER
Two destitute farmer brothers of
Trail are 10 sacks of potatoes richer
as a result of the observant eyes of
a Crater Lake National park ranger.
Six weeks ago the brothers were
driving through the park during
the night from Klamath county
with a (ruck load of potatoes. Snow
was deep along the south entrance
highway and the truck slipped into
a snow bank, hopcle&My stuck until
a part of the load was discarded. As
much as the brothers disliked to
throw the spuds away, they saw no
other altern.-t.ive If they expected to
reach Trail with their load.
They deemed the tubers would be
a total Ices aa a result of freezing
In the cold mountain air. However,
a patrol ranger, J. W. Montgomery,
making a final survey of park roads
for the night, saw the spuds and
brought them to park headquarters.
No owners called for them and It
appeared nobody ever would.
Friday the brothers came through
the park again and in the course of
conversation mentioned the potatoes
to the checking ranger at Annte
Springs. They were overjoyed the
spuds were still waiting for them.
