ances of the late James Owens of
Wellen attended his funeral in Med

visited with relatives and friends
in Eagle Point over last week end.
Roy Stanley passed through Eagle
Point Thursday driving several head
of steers, he had purchased from
William Holman.
Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Brlttaan of
Butte Falls spent last Wednesday
night with the Don Brlttaan fam
ily here.
Miss Mnxlne Cannon went to Med
ford Wednesday to spend the day
and night there with her mother.
The Butte Creek Horse and Cat
tlemen's association held a busi
ness meeting- in Brown's hall De
cember 12 in Eagie Point.
Mr. and Mrs. Millard Robertson
came down from the Dlllard and
Rhoades construction camp ana
spent Wednesday and Thursday with
relatives and friends here.
There Is quite an epidemic of
measles In Eagle Point at present
and among those ill are Joan
Holmes, Mary Ewing, George Walk
er, BUlla and Dorothy Young. Rus

youngsters of Mr. and Mrs. Don
Brittean. but all are getting along
nicely now.
The regular meeting of the Civic
Improvement club to be held De
cember 10 will also be a Christmas
party, with a tree and an exchange
of small gifts. All are invited to
attend.
Frank Brown recently received a
letter from W. L. Brown, who form
erly lived on Frank'a ranch on Ant
elope, but now lives at Ramona,
Calif., having bought a ranch there,
and Is doing nicely.

orchard was In Eagle Point Thurs
day soliciting members for the
Townsend club.

Dick Anderson and Al Muse re

and trap. The boys were camped
between two rivers which rose so

George Wright returned Saturday
from Merrll. Ore., bringing pota
toes. He visited his daughter, Mra.
Leonard Bowman, and family, while

R. A. Rolf, who called at Pine
Tree camp December 13. had been
out to look after his ranch near
Willow Springs, which has been
lensed for the past year. Mr. and
Mrs. Rolf returned recently from
Klamath Falls and are staying in
Medford. They expect to leave soon
for San Francisco.

ering from head cuts and numer
ous body bruises received when Ous
Newbury of Medford, motoring back
from Grants Pass, ran head on Into
the Plymouth sedan driven by Mri.
Wm. Wright, mother of Mrs. Joe
Collins. Mrs. Wright, with her six
year old granddaughter, Joan Col
lina, and Mrs. Pennlnger, were driv
ing out of the latter's driveway
when the Newbury car crashed Into
them. Mrs. Pennlnger, seeing they
were going to be hit, grabbed little
Joan and shielded her from Injury.
Mrs. Wright received facial cuts
and la suffering from shock arm
bruises. Both cars were badly dam

TAKES OWN LIFE
GRANTS PASS, Deo. 18, (8pl.)
George Coffenberry. about 68, owner
of the Del Rogue barber shop, waa
found dead Friday night, apparently
having killed himself with a J9 call,
bra revolver shot through the head.
Coffenberry left hla shop about t
p.m. Friday, Mra. Coffenberry became
worried when he did not appear at
home, and hla ton-ln-law, Charle.
Adair, began a search at 4:30. with
Patrolman R. 0. Cadmus, he found
the body at 0:4fi orumpled up In
corner In a vacant room in rear of the
same building In which the ahop la
located. It waa believed Coffenberry
killed himself shortly after leaving
the shop.
No note was found and no motives
were apparent. He bad been In good
health.
Funeral services were conducted
Sunday at the L. B. Hall funeral
home with the First Church of Christ
Scientist, In charge.
Coffenberry lived here for approxi
mately 30 years and held one of the
oldest working barber's license In th
etate.
The first of a series of CCO edu
cations! conferences held Thursday
and Friday at Camp Bradford was
described as eminently successful
today by Eugene O. Golden, district
coordinator, upon his return to
Medford headquarters.
Educational advisers In the Brad
ford rone, as well as camp officers,
participated In the conference and
described the educational work that
is being accomplished by the CCO
men In school rooms and shops
specialising In art and handcraft.
