Company A, 186th Infantry, placed
11th among Oregon National Guard
units in the annual Pershing award
competition on the .30 calibre rtrie
range. It scored . 5135 merit points
out of a maximum of 6400 for a
rating of 80.2 per cent.
On the automatic rifle range Com
pany A ranked eighth among State
units, scoring 88 merit points out
of a maximum of 1100 for a rating
of 76 per cent.
Headquarters company. 3rd bat
talion, of which Lieut. J. W. Grlgsby
is commander, was in a three-way
tie for second place In the -30
calibre rifle shooting, scoring 5824
merit point out of 6400, to get
rating of 91 per cent.
Pinal tabulations were received
here yesterday by Capt. Carl Y.
Tengwald, Company A commander,
who expressed gratification over the
acoring. The company was late in
getting started because the range
had to be reconstructed, he said.

fourth, fifth and sixth grades of
the elementary schools In Medford
will present a Christmas program
on Thursday, December 19. at 7:30
p. m., in the high school auditorium.
The program will consist of group
singing, solos and a short pageant
depicting the nativity scene. The
children have been trained under
the direction of Mrs. Esther C
Leake, music supervisor; Miss Elea
nor Curry, Roosevelt school; Miss

Funeral for Berton Coulter Lusk.
Wlmer member, was held from Con
ger funeral parlors In Medford Fri
day. Lusk died of lobar pneumonia
at Sacred Heart Hospital Monday
at 6:15 p.m. Wlmer former com
rades of Lusk acted as pallbearers.
They were Earl Eshala. Harold Ham
ilton. Malcolm Davis, Garfield West.
Ralph McOonnagle. Elmer Winters,
Joe Payn and Fred Helferstlne. Payn
and West blew taps over the grave.
LuiOc was In good health and
spirits apparently when he left Wl
mer recently for the Thanksgiving
holidays. The disease attacked him
suddenly while he waa visiting at
hla home In Eagle Point. He was
removed to Sacred Heart Hospttal
Monday morning, where he died.

Douglas $2,000,000
ROSEBURG, Ore., Dec. 7. AP)
Douglas county's 1935 tax shortage,
together with unpaid taxes of the
past, will bring delinquencies to
around J2.000.000. the sheriff's office
estimated today. Only 60 per cent or
the current $988,000 levy will be paid
on time, it was predicted.
