PORTLAND, Not. 39 (AP) Tur
key buyers here surveyed a heavy
carryover of the Thankjlvlng birds
today. Just as they wre about to
open their purchases for Christ
mas. Many of them blamed the pro
ducer for the surplus, contending
the growers held off supplies and
flooded the market at the last mo
ment. The carryover of hens waa not I
great.
The market today ranged from 14
to 16 cents for live birds, and from
18 to a nominal top of 36 cents in
a limited way for selected hens.
These were Portland delivery prices.
