Chinese sources at Pelping reported
today that Japanese troops were con
centrating along the great wall with
1,000 already at Kopelkow, 70 miles
north of Peiplng, and reinforcements
arriving momentarily.
This development came during a
hitch In the plan attributed to Jap
anese military leaders for the au
tonomy of the five provinces of north
China.
Chinese national government offi
cials were reported as nervous over
Indications that negotiations between
north China leaders and Japanese
army officers have been resumed.
Military and civil leaders In the
Japanase cabinet debated their differ
ing points of view at a session which
observers said probably would deter
mine the Slno-Japanese policy.
There were no Immediate Indica
tions as to exactly what attitude the
Japanese government would adopt,
although one foreign office spokes
man said the situation was "a matter
of Chinese politics."

Scatter gunner from all of south
ern Oregon will gather at the Med
lord Qun club traps Sunday for the
tfecond iirrUvy shoot of the season. It
was announced today. A fine lot of
bl.g, prime birds have been secured,
according O Ed Pease, club secretary,
and because of the grouping of shoot
ers according to their ability; every
bomber wilt have an equal chance at
drum sticks.
The shoot will be open to shooters
not registered on the club rolls as
well as members, and hams, bacons,
chickens and sugar will be offered as
alternate and consolation prizes. A
hot lunch will be served on the
grounds, and free lunches will also
be thrown Into the consolation prize
bracket.
With prospects of fine weather, the
gun club officials have prepared for
a record throng.

With clearing skies and prospects
for a warm, balmy. Indian summer
day next Sunday, pro Jack Hueston
of the Hogue Vnlley Gplf club an
nounced today that a big turkey tour
nament will be held on the ciub
courses tomorrow and Sunday. Greens
and fnirways on the course are In
wonderful shape for this time of year.
Hueston stated.
Medal score will be used, on the
handicap basis, with one big turk
for Saturday's low score after the
handicap has been deducted,
for the same low player on Sunday.
An added prize will be a third big
bird to the player who turns In the
lowest net for the two days, after the
handicap hasbeen deducted.
With ugly weather keeping the
divot diggers off the links for the
past few days, a record turnout Is
expected for the first turkey shoot of
the fall season.

Martin called a meeting of the state
forestry board tomorrow to discuss
forest protection plans for 1930.
The board will also consider con
struction of a central warehouse for
