nois and Ohio on bis way east.

principle of reduction of farm pro
duction, embodied in the AAA, Borah
Indicated he had a farm plan of his
own but wss not ready to announce
it.
He refrained from expressing any
opinion on the United States-Canadian
reciprocal trade agreement pend
ing announcement of Its details, but
expressed hope the McCaran proposal
to repeal the reciprocal tariff law
would be adopted by the next con
gress. Asked to discuss the republican
party, reorganization of which he has
championed for months, Borah shot

NEW YORK. Nov. 15. (fl) The
stock market was not so vigorous on
the upside today, but firmness of
rails, oil, farm Implement Issues and
specialties preventea any selling of
consequence.
There was some feverish buying In
the morning, although dull periods
followed as profit taking appeared In
some of the recent leaders. A number
of "new signs' were recorded, how
ever, and the close was fairly firm.
Transfers approximated 3,000,000
shares.
Higher prices were still being talk
ed of In the commission houses, and
the continuance of out-of-town or
ders did much to keep trading volume
on a paying basis.
Various commentators advised a
little more caution.

Vernon . King, widely known as
the 13-year-old child prodigy, seems
to be Just an ordinary boy when
It comes to making grades at schooi.
When Salt Lake parents scanned
monthly report cards today. Papa
and Mama King found that their
brilliant son had failed In chemis
try, got a "C" In English and barely
earned a "C" average In all his
classes.
Yet the lad has astounded edu
cators and university professors with
his discovery of a fifth conjugation
in Latin, apparent mastery of chem
istry and physics, mathematical prob
lems in the fourth dimension and
similar feats of learning.
Vernon's favorite subject has al
ways been chemistry and he has be
come adept at rattling off big, long
53 -tetter wordsfi that confound the
ordinary person along about the
third syllable. He can spell technical
terms like orthocarboxyhenzeneaso
dimethylaniltne without batting an
eyelash.
In all fairness to the boy, tt must
be added that he entered school tills
year a month late because of
broken leg received this summer.
But a check on his grades during
the Inst part of last year showed
that he made a "C" average then,
too.
His report card taken home today
for signing listed an "E" for chem
istry, "D" for copper, "A" for alge
bra, "C" for English, "A" for civics
and "B" for hygiene.
Vernon Is a Junior in hifm school
and made about the same scholastic
marks as the average student. In
everyday life, the boy is little dif
ferent than his fellows.

River catches for the fall season
have been unusually small. However,
