Carless Announced
At Tea and Dinner
Mrs. B. w. Frami, ox Phoenix, an
nounced the engagement of her
daughter, Mlsa Dorothy Carleu to
Fuller Arney, of Los Angeles, at an
afternoon tea and Informal evening
supper at her home Tuesday of this
week.
A definite date for the wedding,
which will take place at the beau
tiful home of Mr. and Mrs. Frame,
has not been set as yet, but will be
an event of the next two weeks.
About fourteen guests, Intimate
friends of the bride-elect, were pres
ent at the tea. Autumn flowers and
foliage formed a lovely background
for the event, each guest being pre
sented with a corsage.
As Mr. Arney la a pilot, favors and
placecards In the form of tiny aero
planes provided an unusual and ap
propriate decorative motif at the sup
per table In the evening. A model of
a Boeing plane formed the center
piece. Guests for dinner were the
Misses Helen Winter, Barbara Drury,
Frederlka Brommer. Mildred Beeson,
Jeanette Gore, Vera Humphreys and
Mildred Patterson.

her grandmother In this city Monday
afternoon.

Hnve Bridge Luncheon.
Mesdames L- L. Lamb and Charles
W. Kenyon were hostesses at the
officers' wives luncheon Thursday
of this week at the Town club. This
la a weekly meeting and the hostess
for this week will also act next
Thursday.
Several tables of bridge were In
play during the afternoon, with score
awards golsff to Mesdames Robert
H. Oolwell, Alfred H. Hopkins and
O. O. Young.

Home for Week-End.
Miss Barbara Hauk arrived this
morning by train to apend the week
end, visiting her parents, Mr, and
Mrs. A. J, Hauk. Miss Hauk Is a
student at Oregon State college at
Corvallls.
Students and Alumni
Attend Homecoming
Ancient rivalry between the Uni
versity of Oregon and Oregon State
college on the football field la draw
ing a large number of local alumni
and sports enthusiasts to Eugene this
week-end to witness the game to
morrow. Added to the attraction of a "big
game" will be the Homecoming ac
tivities on the Eugene campus, n.any
and varied. By motor and train, old
grade and newer grads, high school
students and those who Just like to
be in on things, are trekking to the
Oregon campus today and tomorrow.
As It has been some time since this
traditional game has been played In
either school's home town, an unus
ual amount of enthusiasm la aroused.
A large number of those attending
will leave this evening on the special
train provided for that purpose, and
many more will be driving up today
and tomorrow evening.
Ladles' Aid

Members of the Ladles' Aid of Zlon
Lutheran church met Thursday for
an all-day sewing session, sewing
articles for the bazaar and planning
for the Armistice day dinner to be
given In the church Monday morning
at 11:30.
The next meeting will be held In
the church parlors Thursday after
noon at 2 o'clock.

Beginning relief work for the sea
son, Colonel Sargent Auxiliary, XT. S.
W. V.. met at the home of Mrs. Jack
Hemstreet Tuesday afternoon. Twelve
ladles were present. Dainty refresh
ments wore served by the hostess, af
ter which members adjourned to meet
with Mrs. Faxson In December.

Lieut, and Mrs. Wood have been
on a honeymoon trip, visiting many
points in California, Arizona, Texas
and In old Mexico. They also stopped
at the Carlsbad Caverns In Nw

Society Meeting
ASHLAND, Nov. 8. (Spl.) RegU-
lar meeting of tha Jackson County
Medical society was held Wednesday
evening at the home of Dr. Mattle
B. Shaw. Prior to the business meet
ing Dr. Shaw, assisted by Mrs. dor
don MacCracken and Ruth Oough,
served a crab dinner.
After the usual business and esse
reports the paper of the evening was
read by Dr. R. W. Sleeter of Med-
ford, entitled, "Intestinal Obstruo
tlon," which was afterward discussed.
The president. Dr. C. A. Haines, pre'
sided. In closing, a rlslrw vote of
thanks was tendered the hostess.
An unusually large number of
members attended. Including Dr.
Gordon MacCracken, Dr. D. M.
Brower, Dr. O. W. Oregg, Dr. O. A.
Hnlnea, Dr. B. A Woods, Dr. Harvey
A. Woods, and Dr. Mattle Shaw of
Ashland.
The next meeting will be held
Wednesday, November 20, at the
home of Dr. R. W. Stearns in Med-
ford.

Rapid Expansion
The 8. O. S. Sunday school clsss
of the Baptist church, although or
ganized only a few months ago. has
quadrupled In membership and at
tendance. Object of the class la Bible
study and to orcat a desire for
Christian living and good fellowship.
