than thirty years. A great block of
' marble was taken out about 1880 and
made a part of the famed Washing
ton monument but the present uses
of its products are for poultry grits
and soil Bweetener. A dump tower
and heavy crusher rise above the
pulverizing plant from which a beau
tiful view of Williams valley may be
obtained. The payroll, too, Is an Item.

Nazarene Church
Plan Zone Rally
The young people of southern Ore
gon comprising the southern rone of
the Church of the Nazarene will hold
a zone rally and present a program
in the Medford Church of the Naza
rene. Central avenue at Jackson. Fri
day evening at 7:30. Miss Helen Wil
son of Medford 1 zone chairman of
this area, which Includes representa
tion from five churches.
The program will be diversified, in
terspersed with music, brief Addresses
from young people, as well as brief
messages from three pastors from the
zone area.
- Miss Wilson has been laboring for
several weeks past In the lntereata of
this rally a special banner will be
awarded the young people's group
having the laryest delegation present.

ial cash prize to the Jackson county
Grange whose members have the
most entries In the Ashland poultry
and rabbit show was announced to
day. Last year the Central Point
Grange was the winner In this con
test and is expected to be a strong
contender to repeat.
It Is thought that many of the
winners of the Bandon Poultry show
will be In Ashland December 13 and
14 in an effort to win further
honors. A pul let owned by A. A.
Henry, president of the coast asso
ciation, won honors as the best pul
let in the Ashland show a year ago.
