Coming in Crateriari Thriller
William Powell, suave, sophisti
cated lndy's man, comes Thursday
to the Craterlan theater In "Remtez
vous," a screen story that deals with
a heretofore little known subject
cryptography, the coding and de
coding of cipher messages as done
by the U. S. Secret Service.
Although presenting authentic In
formation on how the cryptographic
bureau works, "Rendezvous" does
not, by any means remain a straight
secret service story, even though It
does play an Important part in the
plot. As In "The Thin Man," Powell
la cast in the comedy-romance char
acter that made him famous, this
time however with Rosalind Russell,
whose many featured appearances
have always met with approval from
the movie-going public. Their de
lightful romantic escapades together
give every advance indication that
"Rendezvous' will ring the bell ana
once again set Powell's star "shining
brightly In the cinema heavens.
In the supporting cast are such
well known playrrs as Blnnfc Barnes,
Cesar Romero. Lionel AtwlU, Mickey
Rooney. Samuel Hinds, Henry Ste
phenson. Sterling Holloway and Char-

today and Monday In a special re

has long been hailed as one of the
outstanding outdoor adventure
dramas of all time.
The story recalls the yarn of
tall, lanky, soft-spoken southerner
who went west to a Wyoming cattle
town and there founded an indis
putable reputation as Its leading
gunman. His words, "when you say
that, smile" have become famous
throughout the land. The life of the
west cowboys driving their herds to
the railroads; gun-toting enemies
earning their savage guns In re
venge; the harsh law of the west
and romance under the whispering
pine trees of the virgin country all
make "The Virginian" an ever-lasting
saga of the early day frontier.
Thevre back again. William Powell
and Jean Harlow, co-starred in
"Reckless" at the Roxy Theater for
today and Monday.
A new kind of musical, the film
depicts Harlow's rise to stage emi

her marriage to Franchot Tone and
the complications that ensue with
his blue-blooded family: finally to
the thrilling climax where loyalty
of old friends comes to the fore.
