TO SPEND $10,000

A (10.000 addition Is to be made to
the Southern Oregon Brewing com
pany's plant on North Fir street to
take care of expansion In sales, the
Mall Tribune learned today.
The added plant will double the
company's output of beer and the
sales area,' which now extends from
Salem to Redding. Cal., will be In
creased, according to Max GeBauer,
vice president of the company. The
addition will also mean a larger pay
roll. To pave the way for the addition
It Is considered necessary to change
the zoning classifications and a pub
lic hearing on the company's appli
cation for such a change will be held
before the planning commission Tues
day night at city hall.

With the Gold Seal Creamery the
brewing company owns the entire
block between Fir. Grape, Third and
Fourth streets, these two companies
at present being the sole occupants
of the property. The block, however,
Is divided In half between an apart
ment or class 2 district and a light
Industrial or class 4 district and the
planning commission will be asked to
make the entire block come within
the latter classification.
Upon reaching a conclusion the
planning commission will make Its
recommendation to the city council
which also will meet Tuesday night
In regular monthly session.
Makes Rogue Lager
Preliminary work has already been
started on the addition which will
extend from the rear of the present
plant toward Grape street. The addi
tion will be 40 by 45 feet. The new
plant Is to be completed In 60 days.
When the addition is completed the
company's aging tanks will have a
capacity of 1,600,000 ten-cent glasses
of beer. Mr. GeBauer said. .
The Southern Oregon Brewing com
pany manufactures Rogue Lager. The
company is relatively new. Its pro
duct having ben plac-d on the mar
ket October 28, 1034. It Is the only
brewing plant between Sacramento,
Cal., and Salem. j
Mayor George W. porter Is president l
of the company and In commenting !
on the addition he said he was in-j
terested in the company primarily
because it provided considerable em
ployment for Medford workers.

SILVERTON, Ore., Nov. 1. (AP)
J. C. Royce, member of a CCC camp
at Mill City, was tnken to a Vancou
ver. Wash... hospital today suffering
from critical injuries received In a
brawl at a dance hull .here last night.
Royce with a number of men from
the camp attended the dance, and
some timo later engaged in a free-for-all
fight with a half dozen of his
companions. Names of the other par
ticipants were not learned.
