Everyone is wearing a real smile since
the fine rain, which cleared away the
smoky condition and put the ground
In first class shape for fall plowing
and sowing of winter crops.
The school directors are having the
well cleaned and put in A-l shape at
the schoolhouss and are also repair
ing the pumps the past few days a
very much needed improvement. Just
prior to the opening of this fall term
they had a' new wood-shed built, re
placing the old structure which had
stood twenty years or more.
Last week was initiation week at
Eagle Point high school for the fresh
men, ending In a party Friday night.
Those attending from here were Miss
Evelyn Jack, Miss Edna Lamb, De
Armond Leigh, Charles Commons,
Ralph Lamb and Larry Leigh.

Lamb are back to school duties at
Eagle Point high after being out with
the flu and measles for a week.

Our Sunday school and church
services are progressing nicely, each
minister preaching to capacity houses.
Mr. Harry Powell preaches In the
morning and Mr. John Still, from
Shady Cove, preaches at the evening
services.
Mr. Powell will begin evangelistic
services October 30. All are welcome.
Monday, Mrs. Mike Hlckenberger
underwent another major operation
at the Sacred Heart hospital at Med
ford. Everyone hopes for her speedy
recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cowden are still
Improving their place. This past week
they painted their house, making It
look very nice.
Miss Elleene Grow has gone back
to work in Medford packing at Pin
nacle No. 3 packing house.
Friday Mr. Lewis brought out sev
eral thousand head of sheep In fine
condition from their summer range,
camping at the home of Mr, Isabelle,
near the school house, overnight.
They were quite a sight for the school
children to see.
It is a very welcome sight to see
the Owen Oregon train coming round
tho mountain loaded with saw logs
for the mill at Medford, It certainly
Is a boon to the entire community
by giving employment to so many
people.
Mr. and Mre. cnariei Humpnrey
went to Medford Friday with a truck
of fine wood. They are still filling
orders for winter wood.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Smith called at
