son Miller and small daughter Jean
left recently for California, after a
few weeks' visit at the home of Mrs.
Mller's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Aaroji
Andrews, of Union street. Mrs. Miller
was formerly Miss Marie Andrews and
taught In Ashland, later In Medford.

spector Bronson, representing the
blologloal survey, has been engaged
at the Talent side camp of the Ap
plegate CCC company. Inspecting co
operative work In the extermination
of rodents on Goat cabin ridge near
Talent. The work is being carried on
the forest service and CCC crews.

tin of San Francisco, assistant general
manager of the Pacific Fruit Express
company, arrived today to attend to
official business matters here. Other
representatives of the Pacific Fruit
Express company, arriving today were

and J. T. H. Armstrong, assistant
general manager, with headquirters
at Chicago.
North on Business W. L. Davison,
representative of the Rainier Brewing
company, left today for Portland af
ter conferring with local dealers for

companied north by John Snider,
who will transact business in connec
tion with Snider Dairy and Produce
company before returning to Medford

Miss Swltzer Visits Miss Charlotte
Bwltzer, who arrived some time ago
from San Francisco to spend a month
with friends In Ashland and in Med
ford, a house guest of Mrs. Josephine
D. Crocker when In Ashland, will re
turn to Mrs. Crocker's Thursday from
Medford. She was the guest there of
the Deter family, who have planned
a number of outings for her, one, a
trip to Lake view to visit Mr. and Mrs.

A murder committed in Chinatown

The story concerns the murder of
an agent for a revolutionary gov
ernment in China, caught stealing
funds which he had collected from
Americanized Chinese, and false clues
lead the police over a tortuous trail
until the killer Is finally apprehended
through the efforts of the driver of a
sight-seeing bus, bringing to a cli
max his romance with a beautiful
girl. Hugh McConnell, Andy Devlne
and Leslie Fenton .make up a fine
supporting cast.
"Woman Wanted," with Maureen

The story revolves about Rogers'
adventures as a steamboat captain on
the muddy Mississippi. He longs to
have his young nephew, John Mc
Guire. as his pilot, but when the boy
commits murder to protect Anne Shir
ley, the girl he loves, Rogers turns
him over to the law.
The boy Is condemned, and Rogers
and Miss Shirley, who blame each
other for his plight are at Jlrst hos
tile, then drawn together by their
common interest.
After many wild and Incredible ad
ventures with a floating wax mu
seum, this brave pair raise enough
money for McGulre's appeal. They
hurry toward New Orleans, are caught
up In the great' river race and thun
der down the finish stretch to save
the boy- and bring the picture to a
happy climax.
John Ford directed the picture
which was adapted from Ben Luclen
Bunnan'a Pictorial Review serial.
Prominent in the supporting cast are
