ROGUES TO 5-1
AT G. P.
After months of persistent effort.
they finally cut the caket The Med
ford Rogues yesterday took the
Oranta Pass Merchant baseball nine
down the line to the tune of a 6-1
lacing at Grants Pass, with Bauman
doing some of the greatest twirling
of the year.
He held the Cavemen to four hits
snd whiffed 13 men, while his team
mates were collecting 13 wallops
from the opposition. While Idling his
time away between mound sessions,
he garnered three hits for himself,
the highest record of the day, send
ing the apple awcy for a three, a
two and a single bag hit. Bscklng
him up was Calvert, who caught
a beautiful game, twice taking the
dirt to recover wild pitches.
The club gave Bauman alr-tlght
support. Hoffard, In the outfield,
turned In two seemingly Impossible
catches, hurling both In from the
far outfield for double playi, the
first Hoffard to Arnle to Welton.
and the second to Arnle. On the first
long one he was back so far that
he hsd to relay to Arnle at second,
and Arnle's swish to Welton caught
the runner on his way back to first..
Med ford scored in the 3rd, 5th,
7th and 0th, with two runs In the
7th. The only Grants Pass score
came In the Snrt, when Al Drolette. i
Merchant catcher, came to bat wltn
the bases empty and whanged out
a homer, the only one of the game.
According to Hoffard. he asked the
Merchants for another game here
Sunday, but Manager Je.ke Olpe re
fused, saying that his club was
through for the year. There has been
no Rogue game scheduled yet for
Sunday.
Due to the fact that some of the
regular players were working, the
lineup wna shifted for the game,
with Welton on 1st, Arnle on 3nd,
Cavelll at short and Donovan on 3rd
Hoffard, Kell and Jackson covered
the outfield. Jackson, borrowed from
the Orants Pass Juniors for the oc
casion collected one hit, and made
two nice fly catches for the Hogues.

"I'm glad that you like the new drapes and interior finish of my home. I've paid
for every bit of it by selling odds and ends of things I've stored away and never
use. Mail Tribune Classified ads certainly brought ready buyers. You girls
probably have lots of things packed away that someone else can use. Why not
advertise them in the Mail Tribune and have a little extra spending money.
Classified ads cost so little and I've always had splendid results. You can either
give your address or phone number or p'?r a "h'irxJ" d n that answers wll be

BIG HAUL SUNDAY
Jack salmon ranging from two to
seven pounds, 13 of them, a seven
pound steelhead and a twelve-pound
chlnook was the reward yesterday ot
Bert Peck, Ray Wyatt and C. T.
Hamilton of Central Point, and Moore
Hamilton of Medord, on the Rogue.
The jacks were all fine fish, ana
the chlnook was perfectly bright.
The men were using eggs, with re
markable success. Other fishermen
the length of the river were re
porting good luck, with an unusual
number of steelhead for the time
of year. For several weeks now the
fishing has been rather slow, with
but Indifferent success falling to
those using eggs, spinners and files
alike.
There la apparently a new run
of chtnooks In the river, for a good
percentage of those taken yesterday
were bright and clean. Trout fishing
