Delay Opening.

Llllard ha announced that the flrat
battle, featuring Curley Wooda of
Medford and Joe Oardonler of Ta
coma, will start at 8:46. 1A minutes
late. Under that arrangement, the
battle royal will not poaslbly atart
until a o'clock and very possibly
later, giving every one a chance to
visit Mann's new store end the Tog
gery before coming to the fight.
Llllard stated today that ticket
for the affair are going faater than
for any other fight ever held In this
olty, this being the first battle royal
ever held here. In case the wrestlers
dont pursusde themselves that the
work 1 too dangerous, more battle
royals will be held In the future,
he said.

Intentions Clear
There Is no doubt about the Inten
tions of Italy. Mussolini has made
these Intentions abundantly clear. He
has for all practical purposes already
declared war.
He has been massing troops on the
border of Ethiopia for months, only
watting for suitable climatic condi
tions to launch his attack. He haa re
peatedly stated that league or no
league he will persist In his determ
ination. One certain outcome of this war
will be tounlte the colored peoples
of the world. Grave unrest In all the
colonial possessions of the European
powers will break out. This will cre
ate a situation, the outcome of which
Is Incalculable.
In the face of such dangers the
council of the League ol Nations has
shown an Impotence which is appal
ing. Its members, particularly Great
Britain and Prance, have been afraid
to take action. Their dilatory meth
ods have been an encouragement to
Mussolini, who has treated them with
contempt.
These dilatory methods have served
Mussolini's purpose as It has given
him time to make hla preparations
for war. If the league council had de
nounced these war preparations as an
act of war and enforced the terms of
the covenant, then the situation
might have betn saved.
Nothing But Talk
Three powers are now meeting in
Paris to talk. It la certain they will do
nothing but talk. They will frame a
meaningless formula and leave it at
that. Mussolini will go on with his
war preparations and when autumn
comes will make his attack and laugh
at the weak-spirited council of the
league.
The European powers are. In fact,
by their cowardice' accessories to
Mussolini's actions. They are prevent
ing military equipment from tying
sent to Ethiopia and this will leave
that country practically helpless
against the powerful equipment of
the Italian armies. These powers are
leaving Ethiopia to be Dutchered to
make a Roman holiday.
No concession which now could be
made to Mussolini short of complete
conquest of Ethiopia would satisfy
him. That aim he has made tragically
clear.
. But Mussolini's aim and ambition
will not stop short with the conquest
of Ethopla. If he Is successful In tiis
enterprise, his next move will be to
absorb Austria. That attempt will
bring Germany Into the war and as
European nations are now bound to
gether with numerable pacta and
treaties a general European war
would he Inevitable,
