F. A. Bate, who has been spending

was called to his home In Albany last
week due to the death of his mother,
who was 98 years old.
Mr. and Mrs. Oscore Moe and twin
daughters and son. who have been
living on the John Dole property for
some time, have bought property near
Grants Pass and moved there last
week.
The Sunday school held a picnic In
Grants Pass park August 11. There
was a good attendance present. Rev.
Carle of Lake Creek was present and
gave a very interesting talk.

Mrs. Pauline Thompson of Sawyera
Bar. Calif, visited from Thursday un
til Saturday with relatives and friends

B. C. Lowe, father of Mrs. J. O.
Walker of this city, passed away at a
hospital In The Dalles. July 18. after
a major operation. Mr. Lowe was
quite well known here, having visited
here a number of times and at one
time living here for several montha.
Besides Mrs. Walker ha is survived by
two sons. Dee Lowe of Medford and
Walter Low, of Bend.
Chas. Carey, the local anoe repairer,
auffered a paralytto atroke on August
4. He la gradually getting better. His
sister from Applegate Is caring for
him.
Thursday afternoon Mrs. Lucy Mea
and Mra. Belle Smith were Joint hos
tesses to the P. N. G. club on the
lawn at the City Hall. After the busi
ness session, gamea were played and
refreahments served. Those enjoying
