HOLLYWOOD (AP) There la com
fort for the "stars of the stills" In the
rise of Rochelle Hudson.
For that matter, they can take
hope from the successes of numerous
other girl who once fulfilled their
studio duties simply by posing for
the still cameraman. .
Even Toby Wing, Hollywood's cur
rently mcato photographed girl, can
look at Rochelle and the others and
see, perhaps, an end to her appren
ticeship. When actresses get to be some
thing of a name In moving pictures,
they seldom have time or inclination
to lend their services to still ones.
And because the studios want to have
a steady supply of attractive "art" to
keep their names before the public,
they turn to the younger girls on the
contract lists.

PARIS. (UP) The pendulum seems
to swing back frequently and resur
rect fashion features from the past.
The latest "out-of-date" style to take
Paris by storm Is the wide taffeta
sash which was so popular when tied
about the slim, remlnlne waist of
1920.
Sashes, like capes, come In bright
colors this soasun and are worn over
gowns of darker, duller tones. Mid
night blue Is considered smart for
cockall. dinner and evening dresses
and Is almost Invariably blghtened
by a wide sash or belt, the color of
which Is repeated In the flowers
trimming the shoulder or neck of the
gown.
Roslue Paris makes a cocktail dress
In midnight blue which carles out
this fashion feature. The corsage
and skirt are of loose, un pressed
pleats, stitched only at the waist
which Is belted in bright red. A
separate Jacket fastens at the nape
of the neck with a rosette of a com
position material. The red rosette
repeats the bright color tone of the
belt.
At the Grand Casino of Vichy dur
ing a gala performance of "Herodl-
ade." a visitor wore a gown of silver
faille silk, printed In ft dark green
leaf design. With this she wore a
crimson sash, almost six Inches wide.

back. Her evening wrap, a circular
cape, was of the same crimson taf
feta. -
At the Karamouchka night club at
Vichy, another chlo visitor was dress
ed In silk In a Dresden pattern. The
gown was built up high at the neck
with an upstanding ruff of the ma
terial circling the throat. It was
belted with a stiff taffeta In a bright
cerise shade which tied In a large
bow in back.
