Mann's Corset Department Aids Patrons to Keep Step With Styles

mended by Mrs. Elsie Narregan, man
ager of the corset, underwear, hosiery
and Juvenile departments at Mann's
store.
Through seasons when flat ohests
and no htps were In Togus to other
years when Venus forms were more
admired, Mrs. Narregan has corseted
hundreds of Mann's patrons during
her 14 years of association with this
popular southern Oregon store. Stays
and unpleasant lacings hare practi
cally been discarded In favor of
lighter weight two-way stretch elastle
foundations which produce attractive
figures without discomfort.
Venus, Formflt and Camp surgical
garments are featured In Mann's cor
set department which now has i
mora complete selection of merchan
else from which to choose correal
sizes and styles.
Women's apparel this year and for
the new season requires proper
foundation for figure control, and
corsets, girdles and brassieres are al
most as Important as the dresses they
cover, according to Mrs. Narregan
who Is a graduate corsetler of two
eastern corset companies.
Hand-made nightgowns and slips
for fall and winter are now being dis
played In the underwear department
along with many other Interesting
articles. Rollins and Holeproof hosi
ery are both favorite brands at
Mann's, where other well-known hose
Is also carried. A few of the spicy
eolors for autumn are ginger, nut
meg, cinnamon and clove.
Juvenile garments for ages eight to

Mrs. Narregan. Shirley Temple dresses

attention among Medford'a very

general smart appearance of Med
ford'a new beauty salon.
Swinging doors at each booth have
eliminated the necessity for drapes.
There are Venetian blinds at the
large front windows. Ten Paramount
Multi-Dryers are controlled through
a central cabinet, and approximately
33 per cent saving Is made by the
Paramount in drying time, accord
ing to Mr. Murray.
Inlaid linoleum covers the entire
30 feet by 80 feet floor space and
the same floor covering Is used In
the spacious lounge outside the en
trance to Murray's beauty salon.
Rlnglette, Nestle and Frederics per
manenta will be available for patrons
of Murray's. Rolf, an expert hair
stylist. Is another Held it tan to Mur
ray's service.

police today that Roy Hamm, 91.
found beaten to death near Meacham
on August 0. may have picked up

neville dam the morning ha was
killed.
Officers who have Investigated the
case have concluded that an uniden
tified hitch-hiker killed Hamm as he
slept In a deserted ranch house near
Meacham. Hamm'a head was crushed
by a 10-pound steel bar. He had
been robbed of what little money he
carried.
A camera, recently, found and
Identified as Hamm's was said today
to have contained pictures taken at
Bonneville. Many transients loiter In
the vicinity of the project and police

'It Is my Intention that the peo
ple of Medford may be able to pur
chase at Mann's all reasonable goods
of the same quality and at the
same prices to be found In large
cities without going to San Fran
cisco or "'ortland." Mr. Slettengren
stated. His department will feature
an especially complete stock of mer
chandise, much of which waa se
lected during a recent buying trip
to the San Francisco market.

downstairs store Just completed ana
where the shopper may find bed
ding. Including nationally advertised
blankets such as Kenwood, Pendle
ton and rlbaulfs. Draperies and
curtains of all kinds are also down
stntrs. This will be a fascinating
place for Medford kiddles before
long, an it will contain the entire
toy department.

Rren, father of Mann's vesatile new
buyer, was Interested in considerable
Rogue River valley orchard land. The

ducted at this camp The morale of
this camp Is exceedingly high. This
can be attributed to the unusual abil
ity of the commanding officer of the
camp and his subordinate officers,
plus unusual Interest and ability on
the part of the educational supervis
