but that an autopsy Indicated that

Catea had autfocated. Neither body

Beginning Immediately, the federal
government will offer up to $15 ft
month, to bo matched by the states,

sions at the present rate and be re
imbursed for half the cost from the
federal government, but It is the
hope of those who wrote the legisla
tion that the federal grants will bo
added to prevailing stato pensions,

Beginning In 1037, employers and
employes each will pay into a nation
wide old ago pension fund one per
cent of the salary of the worker tip
to 3.000 a year. The tax will be In
creased one-half per cent for each,
every three yoara, until It reached
three per cent, each, or a total of
six per cent, In 1040. This fund will
not cover agricultural, domestic, cas
ual, governmental or charity workers.
Beginning In January. 1043. work
ers covered by the fund will be paid
pensions, upon retirement at 05 years
of ace. of from 10 to 85 a month
depending upon salary and length of
service. The monthly pension will be
one-half of one per cent or tho total
wages on which taxes were paid up
to 3.000; plus one-twelfth of one
per cent of the next $43,000; and
plus one twenty-fourth of one per
cent of all over $45,000 up to the
maximum ot $85 a month. Anyone
who had worked 30 years for an aver
ane salary of $50 a month would get
a pension of rJ7.nO. If his average
salary hod been $250 a month, ho
would get $tm.76.

roll tax beginning on this year's
