Two unidentified men apparently
met death today whin a navy plwae
crashed and burned at Kucbel Mesa,
10 miles north ef Rscondido. accord
ing to a telephone message from
Alan McGrew, Sscondldo newspaper
man who went to the scene.
McGrew said that the plane and
Its occupants were burned almost be
yond recognition, but that remnants
of charred flesh fndicated that two
mtn had been In the ship. The
wreckage waa still smoldering when
McGrew arrived.
He said that eys-witnessea report

mills in the area were not yet af

Mass recruiting for the Ethiopian
army began today !n the capital.
The recruiting was preceded by a
military review and mass meeting
in front of the ministry of war.
The action was titken following a
war council by the hiRh chiefs of
Ethiopia, who were reported to have
told Emperor Halle Selassie they be
lieved "it may be too late now to
prevent war.
One source said the emperor was
gravely concerned by mounting evi
dence that tens of thousands of his
warriors were eager for open hostili
ties at once to avenge what they re
garded as an Italian "slur" on their
ancient kingdom.
