PORTLAND. July 20. 7P)Federal
agents today put a crimp in Oregon's
Illicit liquor business. Two men were
arrested, two automobiles were seized
and a 275-gallon sttll valued at 2500
was found when officers raided a site
southeast of Portland. Two thousand
gallons of mash also was found.
Those arrested gave their names as
Clarence Neal and George Frltch.
Each posted J3500 bail. Preliminary
hearing was set for July 25.

In an effort to protect authorized
truck operators, Edward A. Landls,
superintendent of transportation and
Herbert H. Hnuser. chief of field
supervision and enforcement, arrived
Friday from Salem. The officials de
clared that while a farmer is en
titled to haul his own produce to
market and may also haul 35 loads
of unlimited weight during a year
for an Immediate neighbor, but not
more than five per month, or may
haul not over 700 pounds at any
time, it Is the Intent of the law to
limit commercial hauling to those
who have paid for state permits
and otherwise complied with require
ments necessary in providing revenue
and responsibility in road upkeep.
Soon after the first of August
there will be a state man stationed
here to give information and issue
authority for hauling for compensa
tion. Truck operators will be able
to contact the transportation of
ficial through the state police.
A total of $70,000 has been distri
buted to members of the Pnducah
Fruit and Vegetable Growers Associa
tion, Inc., as receipts for the 1935
strawberry crop.
