her parents on Queen Anne Hill,
Seattle.
The attractive bride-elect waa
graduated from Annie Wright Bern
lnary In Tacoma and studied music
In New York. She Is the alster ol
Mrs. Delmont Tootell of Kingston,
R. I., and of Mr. George H. Paraona
and Mr. Reginald B. Paraona.
Mr. Day la a. graduate of the
University of Oregon, where he waa
affiliated with Phi Gamma Delta
Fraternity.
The wedding will take place In the
near future.
Vacation Trips Fill
Social Calendar As
Beach, Resorts Call
Vacations continue to fill the ma
jor portion of the volley's entertain
ment calendar, and this week haa
found many planning motor trips to
the coast, to other cities or to the
popular nearby mountain resort.
Prominent on the list of those
away from the city this week-end are
Colonel and Mrs. Oordon Voorhles.
who left for Portland to spend a few
days visiting.
Mrs. Alice Hollo way is planning to
spend Monday and Tuesday at the
summer lodge of Mrs. Charles Black
on the Rogue river, and then ex
pects to motor to Crescent City for
a few days, with Mrs. E. Raymond
Driver.
Among those In the younger set Is
Mlas Helen Patton, who will leave
today for Lake o' the Woods with
her house gueat, Miss Vlntlcla Bailey
of Piedmont. Cal who has visits
the latter part of the week at the
Patton home on Valley View Drlvo.
Both attended Anna Head school, and
while at the lake will be guest of a
achoolmate, Mlas Mary Lou McEt
more, of Piedmont, at the McElmore
cottage.
Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Allen left June
10 on a motor trip along the cmst,
and planned to drive as far north as
loco, B. O.. where they will be guests
for several days of Mra. AUen'a moth
er. Mrs. Sarah Irving, and of her sis
ter, and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Montgomery. The Allen cabin
on the Rogue was occupied over the
Fourth by Mr. and Mrs, Thornton
Hamlin and family and Hugh Ham

south the latter part of this week

Nion Tucker of Burllngame, whose
summer lodge, Rogfues Roost, is
the center of gatherings of many
prominent society matrons and busi
ness men of the San Francisco bay
district during the vacation months,
arrived by air yesterday to Join Mrs.
Tucker at the lodge.
Mrs. Tucker has been at Rogue's
Roost for the past ten days, and
although no guests are at the lodge
thle week-end, several couples are
expected to arrive for a house party
the latter part of the coming week.
Mrs. Tucker's children. Mlas Nan
Tucker, who returned Friday after
spending a fortnight at Portland,
and Nion. Jr., are both at the lodge,
as are Mrs. Tucker's two nephews.
Peter Thierlot and Michael Tobln,
and Miss Olga Kramer, all of Bur
llngame. Gueats who are expected to arrive
this week Include Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Prvlbll of New York City, who will
spend a week with the Tuckera.
Mrs. Prylbll's father was Mr. Porter
of J. P. Morgan company, before
his death 10 years ago.
Other guests will be Mr. and
Mrs. Stanhope Nixon of Santa Bar
bara and children, Blanche and
Lewis; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Biytn
of Burllngame, and Mr. and Mrs.
Edmond Rossi of San Francisco, wno
are expected to arrive today by
motor for an overnight visit. Mr.

Miss Oenevleve Lyman of Bur
linRame was a guest recently at the
lodge, of Miss Nan Tucker, and
passed through Medford Friday eve
ning on the Shasta enroute home,
where she will meet her parents
and continue with them to Santa
Barbara. Miss Lyman accompanied
Miss Tucker from Portland, where
they both visited.

included George T. Cameron, pub
lisher of the San Francisco Chron
icle, and Mrs. Cameron, who spent
the Fourth of July with the Tuck

At a quiet ceremony Friday even
ing at the home of Rev. Weston F.
Shields, Helen Stewart and Paul Lane
were married In the presence of a few
friends and close relatives. After the
ceremony a reception was held at the
home of the bride s parents on Siski

The bride wore a blue travel crepe
dress with white accessories.
Both are well known In Medford.
where they will make their home.
Mrs. Lane la an operator in Bow
man's Beauty Shop and Mr. Lane Is
employed at the Valley Candy Co.

An event which will find present

nent, Is the dance planned at the
home of Mrs. Charles Voorhles next
Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Voor
hles and Mr. and Mrs. Sprague Rlgel
will entertain about 50 guests at the
affair.
The danoe la taking the center of
the week's social calendar, and will
be the hub about which many smaller
social events will revolve. Many are
planning dinner parties to precede it.

Bay Postponed Until
Wednesday Evening
Emanuel Bay, Russian pianist, will
play In recital at the Baldwin Re
cital hall Wednesday. July 17 at
8:30 o'clock tnstend or on Tues
day evening, It was made known
here yesterday when word waa re
ceived from Seattle, Mr. Bay la ex
pected to arrive In Medford Tues
day afternoon.

Miss Annie Bateman was hostess
Monday evening at her cabin at Shady
Cove to members of the F. L. club
and their families. Following a pot-
luck dinner served in the dining
room attractively decorated with
bowls of summer flowers, games were
played. Eleven members and their
families, besides the hostess, were
present.
Next meeting of the club will be
July 22 at the home of Georgians
Hussong, at which time the elective
officers will be installed.
