the gallows behind the walla of Elgin
county Jail today for the murder of
a policeman.

SALEM BOARD PLANS

1,000,000 building and remodeling
program will be discussed by the Sa
lem school board and a committee of
bankers and civic leaders, on Friday,
July 5.
The plan, recommended hy Dr. C.
L. Huffaker of the University of Ore
gon school of education. Is to replace
the four "fire-trap" wooden grade
school buildings with two-story seml
flreproof structures and build a new
senior high school. The elty would
plan to obtain a 45 per cent grant of
federal funds.
