of Orono. Me., was among Medford
Cueste. yesterday having arrived by
train to visit at the home of Dr. and
Mr. W. W. P. Holt. Mr. Purdy is a
cousin of Mrs. Holt.
Mrs. Martin Returns Mrs. Henrietta
B. Martin has returned from Port
land and Salem, where she was at

a radio talk on "Stabilization of Po
litical Thought," she reports.

Lakes Still Frozen The forest serv
ice reports that the lakes in the Sev
en lakes area are still frozen, and
snow there. Seven lakes. Long lake
Island lake and Red lake are among 1
the bodies of water still covered with
ice. The situation is described ea be
ing very unusual for this time of
year, and will probably keep hunters
and fishermen from entering the dis
trict for some time.

Mrs. Maynard Bush and her sister,

turn to Medford Monday or Tuesday
from Stockton. Kansas, where they
have been visiting their parents. Mr.
and Mrs. E. chrlstensen for the past
month. Mr. and Mrs. Chrlstensen are
well known here, nvhere they former
ly made their home.

Staff members of Crater Lake na
tional park are scheduled soon to
move in a body to the park for the
summer season, according to Ernest
Rostel, public relations ranger, who Is
leaving today to assume his summer
duty at the lake.
W. E. Robertson, resident park en
gineer; E. E. Etherton. construction
superintendent; Francis Lange. resi
dent park architect, and Jean Steel,
park commissioner, have already as
sumed residence at the national park.

who Is at the lake over the week-end,
and remainder of the office person

SHOTGUN EXPERTS
WILL EAT SALMON
The regular weekly shoot at the
Medford Gun club Is being postponed
today to give the club members a
chance to attend the big annual sal
mon bake sponsored by Douglas
county Rportsmen at Roseburg this
afternono. The aalmon bake has be
come so important an affair in state
sporting circles that enthusiasts from
all over the state are registered.
In conjunction with the bake each
year a trap shoot Is held, as well aa
a rifle shoot. This year the date of
the bake fell upon June 15. the clos
ing day of the state trap shoot being
held here, so the Roseburg men post
poned their affair so that sportsmen
could attend both.
Several carloads of Medford people
are planning on making the trip. The
public Is invited.
