ATURDAY, June 15th, will be celebrated
throughout the nation as National Better Housing
Day ... a day dedicated to the building and
modernizing of American homes! From the turn
ing of the first spadeful. of earth to the last nail
driven in the finished structure, each of these
homes that has been and will be erected or im-
,. proved, will be a symbol a symbol representing
a community s belief in its homes and its lam
iiies."Each will be a further investment in a solid
foundation of social and business life. Each rep
resents a new opportunity granted to every
American citizen under the National Housing Act the ownership
of a modern, livable home paid for out of income with actual
ownership a certainty.
o
Let us "dig in" further to beautify, to modernize, and to repair
each home in this city in our neighborhood on our street.
Let us add conveniences that tend toward better living! Those of
us who are not home owners should lay the foundations of our new
homes at once!
Are you a property owner? You can have exactly the kind of home
you want. Modern, livable, and up-to-date. The kind of a home
you have dreamed of. The improvements you have wanted. Money
is available through financial institutions in the form of Modern
ization Credit. Capital for the citizens of this community to invest
in home comfort and convenience up to $2,000 may be borrowed
on Modernization Credit and repaid monthly, out of income, over
periods up to 3 years and even 5 years. No red tape. No down
payment. And you can enjoy a modernized home while you pay
for the modernization.
Do you want to own a home? If you do, the way is paved for you
also under the National Housing Act. You can build a home this
year. You can buy a home. And you can finance it with a Government-insured
first mortgage that covers up to 80 of its value.
Gone is the old rigmarole of home financing with one, two, or
three mortgages with refinancing and all the other things that
made complications and kept you from ownership. By the new
plan, you are offered the certitude of home ownership because
you pay off the mortgage in convenient monthly installments. For
12, 15, or 20 years you can make monthly payments just like rent.
Each payment includes interest charges, a part of the principal
and an installment on the taxes and insurance. Any approved local
lending institution will gladly explain the details of this new direct
way to home ownership.
